I'm going to start a post about all the crazy things that happen at a car dealership.
#1
Customer calls this morning. They drove over 3 hours home yesterday in a 2023 Silverado 2500 Diesel, and went the whole way in 4x4. Thinks they may have hurt it. But they read online where that was ok....
I asked them if it was in 4x4 ( I knew it wasn't) when they were here. He said they wanted to test the Advanced 4x4 setting.
Speechless.

He also said he called his local Chevrolet (House) but they don't know anything.
Luckily it's under warranty.

Speechless. Do they automatically kick out of 4wd at a certain speed? I know a guy that drove home from the lake at 20 mph cause he didn’t know you needed to go back to neutral to shift out of 4lo so he assumed it was just stuck in 4lo.

#2 I will call this entry, "A lot can happen in 100 miles"... We buy a truck from Auction. Clean truck, decent miles, checks all boxes. Carfax shows local Ford dealer took it in, serviced it, and even put a new motor in it. I personally drove it, run perfect. Customer comes in, drives it, also thinks it's perfect. So we make a deal on a Friday. On Saturday it looses oil pressure, check engine light. So he goes to local Ford dealer that said they did the repair. Finds out that they in fact did NOT put an engine in it. They took it on trade, found out it needed this repair, marked it up as having a new engine, patched it to last just long enough and sent it to auction. We obviously just gave this nice feller his money back and are doing the repair. Whoops....

I hope you keep up with this topic.
I've been watching some Youtube video's showing how people get around carfaxe's and how they cheat the system. Can't trust Carfax as much these days.

You buy a brand new truck, buy a house down the street. Update your registration, 2 owner. You take the rebate so you use their financing. Refinance at your bank, 2 owner.

How many packs of cigarettes get burned up in an average day at a dealership? Every time I have bought a new ride there are 3 or 14 salesmen standing outside sucking on heaters, they all look really stressed out.

Out of the 13 or so employees that work here only one smokes and he's not a salesperson. And it's not me

Wait - wouldn’t Ford corporate make the dealer in question make you whole- it’s fraud… I'm not sure a 5k repair would be worth even picking up the phone to a lawyer. We pay for something called a post sale inspection. It's not so much an inspection that the auction really performs even tho they say they do. It's buys us 3 days of time to inspect the vehicle and return it. You wouldn't believe how many get returned. It has to meet a certain dollar amount. Depending on the seller (like dealers that sell TONS of vehicles at auction) they will actually fight for the seller over the buyer. Politics...
