I got one for you Spags. My father in law was a private detective and had a security company later in life after being a detective, bounty hunter and undercover detective with various law enforcement agencies. My wife and I would drive in to TN from Georgia and I would go to work with him some nights since I worked nights anyway. Kinda , father in law and son in law bonding time. He had security for some car lots in town. One night , we were sitting there and this dude was breaking into cars. My father in law snuck up behind him and whacked him in the collar bone with his .38. This got his attention. He handcuffed him and bent him over the hood of his car and I was in the passenger seat looking right at this dude. All of a sudden, He grabs this dude by the hair on the back of his head and started smashing his head into the hood of his car over and over , He would tell him that he is not a cop and this was not police brutality. Well, the police were pulling in with the lights on and stuff and he takes his handcuffs off the guy and kicks him off his hood. Dude is unconscious laying next to a 12 foot fence where the body shop was. Police pull up and look at he dude and say " dam , Don what happened here ? " Father in Law , " big dummy tried to scale that fence and fell" They both giggled and dude was taken to jail. I called my father in law SIR till the day he died. I will have to start a story thread about him sometime.I started dating his daughter in high school when a convicted killer that had threatened him and his family at trial escaped prison 3 times and he caught the guy every time. Not , TBI or the FBI, Love to read more about this guy whenever you take the time to write more about him-

HOW you react to what happens to you DOES!

If I have a car I bought for $5000. Marked to $10000.
You want to trade in your ride (which is stupid).
I offer you $4000 for it. You buy the vehicle for $6000 with the trade.
Here's what people don't understand. The money over $5000. Doesn't exist. So in other words. I got a profit of $1000 and your old ride for free.
Trading in is the dumbest thing you can do. I once had a neighbor who had a used car lot in West Tyler. He referred to this situation as " jumping over the trade in " MO
MY BACKYARD , 20,000 ACRES , NO MOWING

Trading in is the dumbest thing you can do. I’ve read this multiple times and I still can’t comprehend this level of dumb.

Worked at a dealership that sold handicapped vehicles for a couple of years. One of the first clients I had was an old guy from Laredo who bought a vehicle every two years straight cash, from the sales guy I was replacing. The other sales guys warned me about the old man before he came in, so we already had his new vehicle set up and ready to go before he got there so everything would go smoothly. When the old man came into my office I could tell he was loaded. He was cussing every other word, slurring his speech, losing his train of thought. I wondered how he had even managed to drive there. Since he was trading in his old vehicle, I had to go drive it and make sure everything worked. I left to test drive his trade in. While I was driving I noticed a duffel bag in the passenger seat, but didn't think too much about it. I was gone maybe 5 minutes. When I got back the old man was outside where his van had been parked yelling at my mgr. I pulled into the dealership and the old man came up to the vehicle cussing me telling me he was going to kill me if I had touched his [censored]. I got out as he was coming around the vehicle to the passenger side. He immediately grabbed the duffle bag and started going through it. Then he started laying out everything on the seat. The bag contained 60k in cash, a loaded .38, and more prescription bottles than I had seen outside of a pharmacy. I figure I was driving around with about 15-20 years of hard time. Tough day at the office.

Even being a veteran salesperson who's done this my entire life, there can be difficult ones.
This is one that is currently going down. I've got a guy in Canyon Lake "Ron" calls me up on a ad for a conversion van he wants. Found it on Facebook. I can tell he's older, but he's sharp so I don't think much of it. He make me an offer so I accept. Calls me again next day, backs me up another three hundred dollars, ok no biggie. Asked for the wire info, ok on its way. INSTANTLY sends it. Ok, also no problem. The email address he got the wire info from, he was also sent his paperwork. He can't find it. No problem, we will overnight you paperwork. Send it Fedex, he can't find it. Practically buddies with this guy at this point, at LEAST 50 phone calls. We get his daughter involved, she can't find it. Offer to send it to her email address, she won't do it.
They can't all be easy I guess.
Oh, by the way Ron is 88 years young.

And 2 days later, he found the Fedex. So all is well, for now.
