Reading the "Danged Coyotes" thread I thought of different incidents where I was shook up.

When I was just out of HS we parked the cars/trucks in a shep about 75' from the house and the only light was a vapor security light on a pole on the other side of the house. This was deep in the woods and it was really dark ! One night after midnight I came in and parked in the shed and was sauntering to the house and a panther screamed in the thicket behind the house. I moved like Bob Hayes going to the house. The hair all over my body (mostly my neck) stood on end.

Another time sometime in the middle of the night my ex woke me up and said someone was in the house. This had to be 35 years ago or more but I remember it like it was yesterday. I grabbed a flashlight (flashlights in those days sucked) and a Colt Python and went sneaking around our house. Nothing there but I remember leaving the bedroom how my neck hairs were standing on end.

yes had a inciden many years ago driving a truck where I pick up a hitchhiker and when I figured out how evil this guy was the hair and everything else stood up

Back in the 70's I was deer hunting in Louisiana. It was one of those morning with no moon. Really dark. I climbed up in a tree and got comfortable. A big cat of some kind screamed real loud right behind me. It sounded like a woman screaming. Hair stood up all over my body. I pointed the flashlight and gun down the tree and said "Don't come up here " for about 10 minutes. That's the only time I remember being scared in the woods.

Buddy of mine an I were squirrel hunting and camping out in the middle of nowhere north Georgia and were sleeping in the camper shell of his pickup when something big hit the truck, I mean my heart leapt clean outta my chest. We were armed but obviously stuck inside this camper. We finally came to grips that it wasn’t those two hillbilly dudes from deliverance (same area the movie was filmed) and went back to sleep. The next morning, upon exiting the camper, there was a large dead branch laying across the top of the shell.

Several times when I was in Vietnam.

Camping/Fishing down close to the end of big shell one night we could hear a very low hummmm coming from the water's edge, but couldn't see anything. Kept going for about 2 min. All of a sudden 5 jeeps lit up all their lights at the water edge and a small plane flying super low to the water started dumping out bale after bale of pot. Jeeps loaded up and headed over the dunes to drop off to boats. Buddy and I just laid flat in the back of my truck with our pistols in hand.

I don't know, I've had a few here and there. A good one was riding in the back seat in a POS Mazda doing 130. Not a single tire had a balance.

I think that is a leftover from the long ago times in our evolution when we didn't wear clothes, slept in trees, and were a lot hairier. We were prey in the food chain. Hair standing up from neck, arms, back, legs etc, to make us look bigger and hopefully avoid being eaten.

Thank you men for serving. I had an uncle killed in Tay Ninh in the Battle of Good Friday during Operation Toan Thang. Again thank you both from the bottom of my heart!!!

Several times when I got close enough to a Rattle snake to hear it buzzing. Worked pipeline for years so I have seen my share.
