My brother lives in Apollo Beach which is a little SE of Tampa you can the condos there from is balcony. He is has his boat which is on a dock he owns as high as it will go and he says his windows are rated for 140 MPH winds. His condo is on floor 2 with a garage just beneath. He is evacuating along with his cars to a home about 40 miles inland with a 30-40 foot elevation above sea. One of his main laments is that he just got back from Alaska and has a large amount of halibut and salmon in his freezers. They are sure power will be out but the have propane stoves and one generator. Wish them well please.
For perceptive by boat he lives about 1/2 south of the Manatee viewing area.

Other than packing up a few things and leaving town, I’m not sure how you can prepare for this monster. This is going to be horrible.

A friend of mine is coming to our house on Wednesday for a few days. He has been on a road trip as of late. He has a very nice 3 story house on the water in Sanibel Island which is close to Ft. Meyers. He has rebuilt after the island and causeway got decimated in 2022. He said Helene caused some damage to his property but he has not been home to see the damage yet. I suspect there may be more damage depending on the exact path of Milton and the storm surge. This will be either the fifth or sixth hurricane he has had to deal with. He has a couple of condos in the US Virgin Islands that have been impacted hurricanes. One them was a cat 5 he had to ride out because he couldn't get out in time. Pretty wild considering he spent all of his life before retiring in either Kansas or Colorado.

Is it prudent to put off business travel to Baton Rouge this week? I ask because I feel it would be chitty to occupy a hotel room that would better serve a displaced family. How is I-10 during Florida evacuations? Is traffic jacked across Louisiana?

How is I-10 during Florida evacuations? Is traffic jacked across Louisiana? That’s a great question. Most coastal residents down here are heading into central Fla, and into South Georgia. I’m sure some are headed toward that direction

Thank God I no longer live in Tampa. I lived on Davis Island there and I can't imagine how many feet of water they will be under. for any silly enough to stay and for those unable to leave.

I saw Gov. Desantis doing a presser from the Rod and Reel Pier on Ana Maria Island and it made me sad, that is our go to vacation spot in Florida, the house we have rented the last few years we have gone was built after Irma leveled the previous house that was there.
