Tampa already got pounded pretty hard by Helene. They sure don't need another anytime soon.

I don’t know if the post on FB I saw was being dramatic or what, but they were saying cat 4 and quite possibly a 5! This is gonna be a real bad one, hope those people get the hell out of there.

It appears it will hit cat 4 or even 5 but is supposed to drop back to 3 at landfall. It’s a dangerous storm

Looks like it's going to spin up to a Cat 5 in the next 24 hours. Good news is there is a ton of vertical wind shear over Florida right now. Virtually every model is calling for major weaking as it approaches the Florida coast. Bad news is that wind shear will tear the very small very powerful hurricane apart to turn it into a much larger, albeit weaker hurricane. The hurricane force wind field will probably double or triple in size. The other bad news is most models are now forecasting it to hit just north of Tampa putting the dirty side right over the heart of the city.
All scenarios seem bad. Hopefully that wind shear holds or even increases. That gulf is awfully warm though...

I posted before it had a name. I have a donkey named Milton. That ought to tell you something Tells me your donkey is an a$$.
Fishing, a man knows a serenity of soul and peace of mind that he finds in doing nothing else, and it makes no difference whether or not he catches anything. The mind of a true fisherman is not on petty subjects.

Glad I got out of there... this past week was one of the hottest 1st weeks of October, in south florida history.. temps within a degree or two of all time highs for each day, for days in south florida. If what they say about hurricanes picking up steam when it gets to warmer water, this is going to be bad.

We all met with the Directors of our St. Pete and Tampa venues this morning...
They both used the same word, "panic". They said there are no hotels, people want to leave but many have no where to go. Local news are saying when (not IF) but when they lose power it will be days not hours until its up... no water to be had, gas is running low, get out if you can is the advise their local official's are giving them.
Sounds bad. I am praying for them.
And why could this thing have not turned up into Falcon?

I got to south florida a couple of days after Helene went through.. drove straight through... the worst parts I went through at night I-10 west to Jacksonville and then I-95 south to Miami... no lights on the Interstate near Tallahassee.. trees blown over but nothing on Interstate. Most of the gas stations closed but a couple had trucks with generators running to power them up. Not many folks on the road so made good time... The fishing at Flamingo was the worst I have ever experienced.. got skunked the first day, the third day, and the fourth day. caught one fish on each of the good days..
