I don't think it will get banned at the high school level; but if anything, they might regulate it like the pros have done. Somewhat.......

Just because someone has it does not mean they know how to use it

It is not banned in the THSBA for the 2024/2025 season. I personally don’t see a ban coming of it. I am sure it will be brought up when we meet again in the winter.

Ya'll made me look it up. MLF has banned it during competition for their Abu Garcia High School series.

In order to create a more level playing field for up-and-coming student anglers and reinforce the learning of traditional bass-fishing techniques, use of forward-facing and 360-degree sonar will not be allowed in Abu Garcia High School Fishing competition. Its use will not, however, be restricted during practice.

Thought we already knew that.

Good to hear Ken, was not sure if y'all followed the standards of the larger "affiliated" organizations or not. It's a tough subject at the high school level, the kids that have no access to FFS think they are already beat before they show up. Hopefully there will be a way to keep their confidence up and to teach them not having FFS now will be such an advantage if or when they do get FFS in the future. They will develop as more versatile anglers.

There are still many good non FFS fish to caught in all of our lakes.

thanks for the answer

Yes sir. If you feel like you are beat before you show up then you probably will be. There are some of these lakes that it will not be a factor . Like someone said earlier, just because it is on the boat doesn’t mean they know how to use it…

How would you enforce a ban rule in high school tournaments? The organizations do not have the money to purchase covers for all the transducers. All participants in the boat are on the same team. Do you make the captains take it off their boats? If you make them take it off you will lose a large number of captains who are not willing to uninstall it and then you will leave kids out of being able to participate.

Bingo

Well in theory they would not turn it on because nobody would break a rule.... in practice you would have to do lots of polys... non family captains aren't about to go to the trouble of disconnecting all their stuff to drive some kids that aren't theirs around in their boats.
