Over the counter magnesium citrate is undefeated. Drink lots of water.
GI specialists of course will have better info (your oral intake over the last month + any labs/scopes)....and therefore, better advice.
At minimum, you should call your primary care physician. +100 call your PCP maybe get a referral to TDDC (Texas Digestvie Disease gastro docs). I have Ulcerative Colitis and Diverticulitis so I know all about constipation as it can lead to a UC flare up which is an absolute nightmare. Fortunately have not had one in years thanks to meds and diet changes. You need to get in to see a doc and hopefully get some relief then IMO you need to really take a look at your diet figure out what works for you and what doesn’t. For me it is all about high fiber diet and truthfully that is not recommended for someone with UC but it works for me. I eat all small to medium meals and spread them out with snacks. My main snack is a small handful of cashews and almonds also not recommended for someone with Diverticulitis but it works for me and keeps the plumbing flowing. I feel for you Brian I have gone thru major bouts of digestive issues it sucks for sure. As bad as it is try not to get too stressed out that will only make it worse. Look at any medications you are taking and see if constipation is one of the side effects. Don’t screw around with this get in to see a doc and get it figured out.

It’s a shame Sawhorse is on vacation. He is the OT poop expert and I think he’s a volunteer enema person at one of the local hospitals. It’s not a paid gig, just a hobby.

Ive jokingly posted about it before, having chronic constipation. Not something I would wish on anybody. 2 weeks about I got done with a 4 week round of 6 different prescriptions besides all of the over the counter stuff. It's gotten considerably worse. To the point where I feel like it's messing with my center of balance. I'm scared to even eat some days. I procrastinate with the DR stuff being self pay. This morning I woke up not really being able to pee either. This is 100% impacting me mentally. I think I recently went several weeks without any kind of real bowel movement. Just when I think Im heading to the ER one will happen kinda and I tell myself it's getting better.
Pray for your buddy Spags, this is getting scary.
Another appt today at 3.
I take daily.
Psyllium husk, stool softeners, mineral oil, dark chocolate, milk of magnesia, prune juice, and mirolax. I drink tons of water, gateraide, and anything else I have read about on the web. I could take laxatives, chug a magnesium citrate, do an enema, and put on white pants and jump on a small airplane to Mexico without any hesitation. Self Pay? Why not sign up for ACA, it based on your family household and income, and with you having alot of kids your supplement from the government should be large and you could have top of the line insurance for a very good prices. Get like BCBS Advantage Blue thru ACA. wait 5 months and karmello will provide free healthcare for all (except whites who work and are citizens)

First off, I am truly sorry. I get frustrated if I can't fully empty my bowels 2 times a day, I can't imagine what you're describing. It honestly sounds like your gut health is shot to **** from everything you're drinking/doing. Water and proper nutrition can/will go a long way. Have they looked at your intestines? It sounds like what my mom's idiot brother had when he couldn't poop for 6 months. He ended up having a form of Non-Hodgkins lymphoma that created a tumor in is large intestine along with Chron's disease. He's an idiot and almost died because he wouldn't go to the doctor sooner. Definitely sounds like your in need of bowel disimpaction. Doc is right about the magnesium citrate and drinking plenty of water. Constipation is caused by a lack of water...magnesium citrate and prune juice work by forcing all the water in your system to the intestines and getting things moving. So you need to drink plenty of water! Like drink about a gallon a day (16 ounces every 1.5 hours)...probiotics help to rebuild your gut biome, but man, I just pray you get the medical help you need. This has got to be scary especially since you don't feel like you're urinating properly/enough.
And when/if you drink prune juice or magnesium citrate, make certain you've had at least 120 ounces of water the day before and drink either the prune juice or magnesium citrate on an empty stomach...and don't lay down until you've started having things move along. Also, work your ab muscles...it does help.

Praying for you Sir. Seeing a doctor is a good start in the right direction.

Also, work your ab muscles...it does help. I don’t do them all same time every day. I manage the soluble and insoluble stuff out. I just do some combo daily. The bad part is every once in a while I’m like here you go!! And then one time and it’s over. The mineral oil is the biggest help honestly. I can also force things along with a triple shot of espresso. But that only works once and then not again for a while. If I try it 2 days in a row it just causes a very uncomfortable feeling.

You may have scar tissue or something causing a kink in the intestine...have you had a hernia before? Had it repaired? Something is kinking the works or blocking it. I pray you get the relief you need soon!

Oh and a couple of my friends use pivothealth.com to get short term insurance. You may want to look into that.

There is probably bacteria in your gut causing this. Look up a product called EMMA on youtube. I have taken it and it works as advertised. Has ingredients in it to kill the bacteria.

Is colonics still a thing? That used to be the rage for a time, but I haven't heard about it recently. Think of a transmission flush, but for your bowels. Maybe a full-on reset of your system will get everything pumping back the way it is supposed to.

Pain meds can cause serious blockage issues also.

Pain meds can cause serious blockage issues also. Yup and when you get admitted for blockage they dope you up on pain meds- it’s almost like the docs don’t read the side effects.
