List of active anglers in order that qualify for legends exemption by legends points and tournaments fished assuming in good standing with BASS. Some with legends points are left off the list as they are no longer fishing professionally or currently still fishing Elite series.
#1 Mark Davis #2 Gary Klein #3 Skeet Reese #4 Takahiro Omori #5 Randy Howell #6 Brent Champman #7 Alton Jones Sr. #8 Edwin Evers #9 Chris Lane #10 Boyd Duckett (yeah I know, snowballs chance) #11 Cliff Pace #12 Casey Ashley #13 Ott Defoe #14 Luke Clausen #15 Justin Lucas

I personally wouldn't mind seeing every one of these guys competing on tour.

Now lets do something that hasn't been done with past legends exemptions and look at who could conceivably compete on tour.

#1 Mark Davis - 3 AOY's, Classic, & HOF. 60 years young. Not much left to prove. #2 Gary Klein - Got his hand in a bit of everything; Doubt he would ever consider the Elite or Opens. #3 Skeet Reese - He jumped on the Clark bandwagon in agreement. It will be interesting to watch where he lands. #4 Takahiro Omori - Guessing he stays put. #5 Randy Howell - Opens currently #6 Brent Chapman - Has his show and an AOY. Doubt he jumps back in. #7 Alton Jones Sr. - Never know what AJ will do; Unpredictable cat. #8 Edwin Evers - Maybe with Zona retiring he would reconsider a stint back on the Elites. #9 Chris Lane - Russ is in the Opens; Imagine Chris will jump back in. #10 Boyd Duckett (yeah I know, snowballs chance) - Nope but he does have an opportunity to be strategic with an FFS decision. #11 Cliff Pace - Opens currently #12 Casey Ashley - Opens currently #13 Ott Defoe - Seems to be content; Other avenues of revenue for him. #14 Luke Clausen - Quietly going about his business. #15 Justin Lucas - Has an AOY; Also had a good year on the BPT. AL stick. He may take a wait and see attitude before making a final decision.
Grateful for every sunrise and sunset I get to witness. - Jason

The Legends exemption needs to be done away with all together, they're not competitive anymore and just taking away a slot for some new blood. If anything, start a tour just for them and see how it works out.

If anything, start a tour just for them and see how it works out. Legends exemptions are additional spots and do not have any effect on the qualification process. They don't cymut anyone or take one less qualifier to allow a legend exemption spot to remain filled. Jordan Lee has had a pretty strong year using his exemption.

But he only used it because he had left, think more along the lines of Fritts and those guys for the true legend exemption.

They need to do away with legend exemptions. None of those old farts could compete on BASS. They should make anyone over 40yrs old retire from the league. They can't keep up with the young cats. This is a young mans game. Put the old farts out to pasture!

You must be an arsonist in your day job. The average age of the Classic winners since 2010 is 46 years old.

Old guys can't compete with all the new blood coming in. The old guys just complain and want to change the rules. BASS needs an age limit on competitors.

Russ and Chris Lane aren't related, I doubt Chris leaves his son is fishing the MLF feeder series and his brother came back to the BPT this year after trying the Opens for one year last year. The Legends exemption needs to be done away with all together, they're not competitive anymore and just taking away a slot for some new blood.
