Alaska is good to go to. However, you have to get away from the masses of people there in the summer. One year we went to the Kenia peninsula. Stayed in Soldotna, Homer and Seward. That was ok but too many people for me. The highlight of that trip was a float plane out to Brooks Falls to see the bears. We went Halibut fishing out of Anchor Point. It was good. Also went salmon fishing in the Kenia river which was not my cup of tee. Disappointing. You are elbow to elbow repeatedly throwing out 12 ft of line trying to snag them. We went to Seward and took a day cruise to a glacier and that was a good trip.
Second trip we went to Silver Salmon Lodge in Lake Clark National Park. That was totally awesome. So much better than the Kenia trip. You fly out of Anchorage and the lodge is a hour flight. You get super close to large Brown Bears. My wife shot some incredible photography there. The lodge is fantastic. Food was so good. It’s pricey but the price is fair with all the logistics of running such a nice remote lodge.
Lots of great places to travel to around the world. I would rarely go back to any place I have been. I know many who finally travel then go back to the same place multiple times. I don’t understand why they would do that. Too much to see. That’s not for me.
I would go back to Silver Salmon Lodge. I wouldn’t go back to the Kenia peninsula.
Silver Salmon lodge is one of the top places I have been. It ranks up there with Safari in Kenya and Tanzania, Galápagos Islands, China, and Peacock Bass in Brazil.

For those interested in DIY arrangements, check out Adventure Alaska SE, in Thorne Bay. More of a do it your self place, with vehicles, skiffs, upgrade boats, and directions to most of the streams and rivers on Prince of Wales Island. Charters are available fishing both Clarence Strait and the west side (Pacific Ocean side of Prince of Wales), where the big fish live! Adventure Alaska Southeast

Yeah, there's a few of us still around. Any ideas where he was stationed? We probably know somebody in common.

My sentiments exactly...been to Alaska about 15 times and only one repeat in the bunch and that was only because the lodge gave me a big discount. Kenai reminds me of jetty fishing when a big run of reds is on...to be avoided if at all possible.
