Awesome pics! A week without crappie ain't too bad when you're catching salmon and steelhead. I've never caught either, but have always dreamed of it. I hope to go one day when my twin boys are older (they just turned 1).

Same way I felt after my first trip there. Been back 6 times.
Awesome trip Todd. And no, you can't go fishing too many times with your Dad.

Been cooking up fish most nights! The rockfish is better than the halibut! But both are delicious. Getting caught up at work and hopefully can sneak off to pester the slabs later this week! thumb

Great post and some amazing catches up there!

I lived in Alaska for about 10 years and have been wanting to get back up to visit some friends and catch the silver salmon run (you can time the silver salmon jumps to target where they will be since they jump so often!)

Those rock fish are my favorite salt-water fish to eat and you guys caught a good mess of them!!

Thanks for posting all this, looks like you guys had a blast!

Haha, I'll be sure to tell em if I can find them! Two weeks ago I caught 17 fish in about 2 hours out there. Went out Thursday night and caught one fish in 4 hours. Same setup, depths, and areas - just couldn't get within 50 feet of them without spooking. Hoping they settle back down soon!

And that 10 years in Alaska included the winters so don't be too jealous! The magic wears off slightly when it's -30 degrees hahaha!

Ha winters in Alaska would be brutal!! No daylight would mess me up! Your fish will probably be spooky for the next 3 weeks!! I’ve fished there several times in the last 4 years and I’ve rarely been able to drop on them with a 15’ rod! There and Grenada they’re stupid spooky!!

It is wild that they're like that on the tournament days. I think the increased traffic from pre-fishing and tourney days throws them off or something. I fish Darbonne often and I rarely see them get that spooky.

I'd say the breakdown for me is:

Spook Distance / % of Days:

50ft / 10%
40ft / 10%
30ft / 70%
20ft / 10%

**Thinking about that as I typed it up, I fished with a friend recently on a windy day. He kept talking about how quiet the hull slap was on the pontoons as opposed to his bass boat. I couldn't believe it because it sounded plenty loud to me.... but maybe he was onto something.

Thanks! It was a cool trip for sure! Finally got out to pester the slabs for a while yesterday! My boat control was a little rusty at first, but slabs were harmed! roflmao
