OP Bass Bug TFF Guru Joined: Feb 2008 Posts: 24,706 East Texas	Since my son (and associated grandchildren) moved to Phoenix a few yrs ago we make 3 or 4 trips a year and usually stop at one of the big bend parks. I’ve seen and photographed black bears in Yellowstone and Cades Cove in the Smokies but never really thought I’d see a bear in Texas . But I knew they were there and had done enough homework to know that very early on Lost Mine or Window trail in the Chisos Mtns looked like the best bet. We left our room in Marathon at around 5 am for a sorta scary ride till the sun came up , ores scary because the best place I can think of to hit a pack of Javelinas is the road into the park. We parked at Window trailhead and headed out and immediately stopped as I saw 20 yds a black bear snacking on a yucca , success at last .
