Definitely, the way to go especially if you have a Yamaha SHO.

The SHO has a 75amp max charging system (mercury 85amp) which is rare to see it output that much power. Early on (amazon) lithium companies werent using the correct bms or people were using non starting batteries which caused issues. The Bms's being used then had a max charge cutoff of 50amps and with the motor output being greater it would shut the battery down and If that happens while running around the lake it would making it dangerous loosing all power. The non starting batteries being used werent designed to handle the amps needed to crank a motor (shuts the battery down) and not designed "bleed off power when capacity is reached so overcharging doesnt occur which is why we saw fires, voltage spikes and fried computers.

For trolling motor and electronic batteries I’ve been trying out some 100ah Temgot lithium batteries this Summer. They have a built in heater for charging below 32 degrees and bluetooth for $279 each. Working great so far with no complaints.

Oh yeah I forgot to mention the screen. You’re right it is nice. I figured that was a good idea for back up in case the app support for the Bluetooth function didn’t work down the road for some reason.

So the big question is - What do you get from a $500-$700 (Ionic, Dakota, etc.) LIFEP04 battery that you don't get from a $200 battery?

Significant weight savings, longer life, better performance during its state of charge, faster charging, and higher average voltage, and in my case, my Ionic 12v50ah was less expensive than the $200 regular battery.
Stretching it a bit on this one, but the boat trailers better behind the truck when it loses the 200 plus pound difference behind the axle from the lead AGM batteries they replaced.

He means both batteries being lithium. Cheap lithium (LiTime) vs more expensive like Battle Born, ReLion, Ionic, Dakota, etc.

Maybe better warranty, maybe better customer service, maybe a bit better build quality and features. I’ll risk it with the cheaper batteries for the TM or electronics. Wouldn’t risk for a starting battery, although I’ve never seen a cheap cranker.

I've purchased 7 relion batteries in the last 9 years. They're nothing special. No Bluetooth, they don't last 10 years, crappy warranty, dreadful customer service. I recently bought a new $800 RB80 and it's a dud. I'm going to try a $295 LiTime for a while. If it works well, I will be unloading all my Relions.

You are buying a warranty that there is at least some chance they will stand behind. That's really it. Although I'm still not convinced that any of them are going to honor a warranty for 10 years. Maybe I'm wrong though.
