They are NOT Going to extend Rain man unless he wins in the playoffs...like I've been saying since March....I'm fairly certain CD will be signed shortly. And Parsons next spring.

I want to watch Lance and see what he looks like

He also appears to need assistance…he was not making a lot of sense.

People thought that about him when he bought the team and fired Tom Landry. Then they won 3 super bowls and all was forgiven. If they win another, the fans will forget all the “L”s of the past….its just how it is.

I would think so which makes the argument that he’s chasing money seem a little silly. I don’t think not winning super bowls helps the Cowboy franchise valuation!

These are the teams with the lowest franchise values.
Jerry knows playoff wins and recent Superbowls have very poor correlation to the bottom line.
Its all about branding and marketing, young son!

That was Jerry's priority. Al Davis taught him well.

I've always said Jerruh looks for publicity more than wins. It's worked out well for him. And the fans keep coming back for more of it.

With the exception of the LA chargers, would most those be considered small market teams?…..and they recently moved from San Diego from their longtime fan base.

What was KC’s value pre Super Bowl wins, vs now?

What’s funny is Jerry has been using that word, and toot’n his horn, last 8 years how he has a high “Tolerance for ambiguity”, ever since consulting companies started tell companies they need look for, test, and hire employees with these characteristics. No kinding, ever since then, probably 2015 time frame, Jerry over uses that word to describe himself. I bet Jerry saw that, and said yeah that’s me, I like that.. someone needs to count how many times he dropped that word in the press conference. I just think it’s funny, because I remember when I first say those studies from consulting companies, Jerry started using that concept to describe himself.

Cowboys are at the top, and I suspect they were at the top before Jerry. Thanks to Tex Schramm.

Honestly, it’s the people of Texas who have grown the value of the Dallas Cowboys. The SMU death penalty and decades of TCU football ineptitude were also significant factors. The third most inportant variable…prior to owning the Cowboys, Tex Schramm was a CBS executive. He understood the importance of aligning the Dallas Cowboys in the NFC East and how to capitalize on that association through television media, advertising, and propaganda catch phrases like “America’s Team” and “Captain America”.

Jerry started off well by hiring the football genius Jimmy and allowed him to run things for four years….he also hired very good corporate management strategists. Jerry’s downfall was ego and narcissism. He thought he could do it himself without a great coach like Jimmy and Barry…..Gailey, Campo, Phillips, Garrett…only a delusional narcissist would think he could win a Super Bowl with those folks at HC.

The cowboys were losing 1 million a month when Jerry bought them, they were basically bankrupt.

They were poorly managed, but he paid $150 million for them, that tells me that was the market value of the Cowboys. And looks like that was a good deal.

Back then many NFL teams had poor cash flow. This was before the era of lucrative TV deals, stadium naming rights contracts, salary cap and more, and many folded. Jerry drove all those changes and lifted cowboys financially and the whole NFL, now all teams make money. Pretty sure that is why Jerry is in the hall of fame, all the business and marketing contributions he made that financially lifted the whole NFL.

Yes, Cowboys LLC were all caught up in that Houston Savings and Loan disaster when Jerry purchased the franchise.

The whole saving and loan industry was going bankrupt, and Bum Bright was owned some himself. He was a terrible owner from what I remember. I personally was excited to see a new owner buy the Cowboys and an owner that wanted to win. It sure started out good.

But Bum did buy the Cowboys for $85m and sold to Jerry for $150m.

Since the 2019-2020 NFL season, the Chiefs have inflated by at least $2 billion. The franchise was worth $2.3 billion in 2019, according to Statista. After three Super Bowl appearances and two rings, the team's value rose to $4.3 billion by August of 2023

This information would tend to refute your argument that winning super bowls has little to do with the bottom line.

Only when the tide goes back out do you discover who has been swimming naked.

If you don’t believe that teams normally increase in value because of winning championships…..well, sorry doc, but that’s just being obstinate IMO.

It’s a small factor.

Just look at the Saints and Buccaneers values. The Bucs have won two Superbowls since 2000…and have eleven playoff wins since 1996 vs the Cowboys five playoff wins in that time period…but they will never soar in value because NASCAR, the Gators, and Florida State will always dominate that market.

I agree, that’s why I said “normally”. There are exceptions to every rule.
