After 50 years of offering "Open Seating" SWA has announced an assigned seat policy is in the works.

I never really liked the SW seating free for all.

I wonder how much longer the "Bags Fly Free" benefit has to live?

I have not flown now in quite a few years and I am more than okay if I never board another jet in my lifetime.

For families the SW policy is much better than other airlines. For business flyers it kinda sucks.

Same here. I have better things to do than wait in long lines to get strip searched, only to wait even longer for weather, equipment and luggage delays.

My bag was 50.2lbs a couple weeks ago. They wanted $100 for being overweight. Had to open it up and grab a handful of stuff to throw in the kids carry on to get under weight. Thankfully we were at a small airport and no line. People at Love would have been mad as a hornet for me holding up the line.

I've flown twice this year as recently as late April. Flying is a definite beating nowadays even compared to 15 years ago.

We're driving to Canada next month somewhat to escape the flying experience.

I have flown 6 times this past year, well, really 7 times but on one of those flights I took off but didn’t land in the plane lol-
I really like flying Southwest Airlines because they have been wonderful to travel with-
I hope whatever changes happen doesn’t change what has been a very smooth experience-

I like the open seating policy as it sends a message to all potential travelers to be prepared and take some ownership of the flight.
Spoon feeding people leads to someone being dragged off a plane like a whimpering, crying little baby.

Retired now. No more SW Houston to Midland flights for me! No telling how many I made over the years with SW. We used to fly two three times a week in the 90’s, Houston Hobby to Midland, Dallas, New Orleans and many other places. We never really had problems with first come seating with SW. Most of us flew so much back the. We had flying SW down to a fine art. The companies decided they didn’t want to pay for plane tickets. It takes a long time to drive from Houston to Midland but we did it. Most of us would rather drive anyway.

I could care less if I ever fly again.

Thanks, Billy
