Not asking about best tires for the trailer. Have seen that thread too many times although it was helpful. Different situation...I have a 2017 Skeeter ZX dual axle trailer. All original tires (Goodyear Marathon) and I don't put too many miles on it. Maybe a one hour road trip per month and a few short trips to local lakes. Lost my first tire about 3-4 months ago and replaced it with a Goodyear Endurance. Lost my second Marathon this last weekend and replaced it with another Goodyear Endurance. So now I have two new Endurance and two original Marathons. Speed rating for the Endurance is a "D" and speed rating on the Marathon is a "C". Is it ok to have the two different tires on the trailer at same time? If trend continues, I'll probably lose the next two Marathons over the course of the year. I was holding off on getting all new Endurance at the same time only because they are expensive at $200 per tire installed. (Discount Tire) Also, the max psi on the Endurance is 65 while the max psi on the Marathon is 50. Should I bring the Endurance down to a 50 while the Marathons last?

You are ok with miss matched tires, I would definitely get the other marathons replaced asap. Sounds like it’s a catastrophe waiting to happen. One of them is gonna blow and take out the trailer fender, side of the boat, or worse. Why gamble?

Thanks Steez. I had an older ZX190 and remember all your trailer issues that mirrored mine. I think at one point we both had more jacks than rods in the back of the truck. It is probably best to just bite the $$ bullet and replace the other two tires.

I wouldn't pull it again until those tires are replaced. Risk tearing up your trailer and possibly your boat.

The Marathon's were known as a terrible tire. Go all 4 with the Endurance. Better to be safe than sorry

The designation D and C are load range. This is your ply rating. The Endurance is an 8 ply tire. The Marathon is a 6 ply tire. That is why the Endurance is performing better. If you know your boat and trailer weight we can check your load capacity for the tires.

Endurance and replace all tires at the same time. This reminds me, I have to get my trailer tires ordered this winter.

After 1 blow out, I may just keep the older tires with 1 new tire.
2 blowouts kind of confirms they’ve reached the end of their life.
You would be kicking yourself if you end up with $1000 of damage to your trailer from not spending another $400.
I absolutely hate mixing and matching tires, not that there is actually anything wrong with that. Typically if I have a blowout and treads are getting questionable, I replace them all.
It’s hard to put a price tag on piece of mind after you have had issues on the side of a busy highway/interstate in <100F heat.

Replace before pulling. Imagine if tires you know are bad trigger a major accident.

If your boat is a 2017 then the tires are at least 7 years old if not older. Good practice to replace trailer tires every 6 years. Like Steeze said, next one to blow may take out a fender then you’ll wish you replaced them all.

My dad used to call those type of tires "Maypops"... Because they could pop any second.

Thank you everyone for the good advice. I just bought the other two Endurance and will get those on today. Now what to do with the barely used Marathon spare!

If ya don’t want to spend $200 on a matching spare, at least get a new spare the same size as the other four. I kept my best tire, that was only a couple months old, as my spare. Don’t wanna sound like the odd man out, but I had bad experiences with my Endurance tires. Both original endurance lasted only about 15k miles, then one blew out, I replaced it with a new Endurance. Then a month later the other went BOOM. I took the newer Endurance and put it on the frame as the spare. I called our tire supplier and asked him what the best tire was…he said,”Not Endurance”. He suggested NAMA 616 ST. I am on my second set (. Ought another set a few weeks ago) of NAMA tires. They are great. They are 10 ply with an 80psi max inflation. I think I paid around $80 each.

How old were they? The first set of Endurance came on the trailer from the factory. It’s a 2021 Skeeter Built trailer. The original set lasted about 1-1/2 years. I go through a set of tires anywhere from 1 to 1-1/2 years. The boat is used 3 to 4 days a week, year round.
