Our docks are where they are for good reason….they are protected. Our docks are floating docks designed to go up and down as TVA changes water levels.

I cannot imagine what is going on in the minds of those damn wake boat drivers pulling huge wakes right in front of our docks. Our pond is huge. Lots of water.

Unfortunately, Kentucky laws make it illegal to shoot them.

Are they not legally responsible for their wake? I guess the enforcement is the tricky part.

Have you ever enjoyed the innocent, simple pleasure of target shooting with a Gamo Whisper? When I was a kid, I could open my bedroom window and shoot birds out of midair - nobody could see or hear it

It sounds irrational, but they are near your dock because they are looking for calm water. They want glass in front of the boat, a tsunami behind the boat. That's ideal wake boarding. They are terrorists.

It's their world, you're just living in it. Same issue with us when the lake is up. I know Texas law used to say that boat operators were responsible for any damage their wake may cause. Not sure if it still does and seriously doubt much effort would be put towards enforcement anyway? I have considered petitioning our river authority (LCRA) and local reps about dedicating certain areas of the lake for using on-board ballast systems...main river channel or lower basin area only. Absolutely no reason for any of these knuckleheads to be doing that in any of the branches off main channel.

Talk to Lake patrol about a NO WAKE BUOY. We have talked to our lake patrols about high unwanted traffic and they said if you can put a no wake buoy out there that they would enforce it. Worth asking.

The damage they do to retaining walls on the lake over the course of the summer is amazing.

By the time the damage is done they are hundreds of yards down the lake.

Other people’s property is the last thing on their mind.

There is no enforcement on most bodies of water except for the occasional game warden and it’s not against any law he is enforcing.

The city of Tyler closes Lake Tyler when the water level gets high after a big rain. They are protecting homeowners' docks from boat wakes. Ironically, these are some of the same homeowners who drive around the lake in huge boats that create enormous wakes on a regular basis. Apparently their wakes don't harm docks.

Much like 18 wheelers, they should have their own designated lake….I nominate Grapevine and Lewisville…..and the Oklahoma side of Texoma….all other north Texas lakes, they should be prohibited.

Disagree with your choices. I hope they go to Sandlin and Cypress.

I am currently paying about 12k repairing my floating dock. I wish they would make it illegal to be within 600 feet of a dock.

I get it they want to enjoy the lake just like we do, but in a different way. BUT why on earth do they have to get right next to you when the whole damn lake is open.

One of the benefits of having alligators making a comeback around Huntsville. This lot is for sale close to where I launch my boat.

I can't stand surf boats. I HATE them. They are the most self centered thing you can own. They are an affront to every party that may be on the lake. Home owners, fisherman, other boaters. I am on LBJ and they are everywhere. If you get close to one that has ballast tanks, it violently rocks your boat. If you travel an area where the surf boat has passed recently, you can launch your boat on an unseen swell. You get enough of them together you feel like you are in a blender.

They will never be banned because the market for them is too big and many of the home owners have them. Given the environmentally focused world we live in, I am surprised there isn't concern around land erosion. The only thing that would trigger action if it becomes a safety issue with other boats tipping.

As a kayaker I hate them. And its never a cool guy with one either its always some DB bruhs...

They should be banned for the damage they cause to the shorelines and the danger they present to everyone else trying to enjoy the lake and not bother others trying to enjoy the outdoors such as anglers, yakkers, normal boaters, SUP chicks, swimmers etc. etc.

It is the most selfish activity on the water.

The make it miserable for swimmers, skiers, fishermen, wake boarders, and people just cruising. Their need for their fun overrules everyone on the lake. This doesn't even account for the destruction of bulkheads and docks or natural shoreline.

I did call the game warden to ask what a destructive wake was and his response was that it was at their discretion. Paraphrasing...."The law is at our discretion but it would be a cruiser throwing a big wake through a marina." I did ask how a wake boat on a small lake can throw a 4' wake against everyone's bulkhead and his response was that they were just having fun. I obviously let it go after that.

They don’t bother me much, they’re only on the water after noon on warm days. There have been huge boats making huge boat wakes on lakes forever, and quite often if you ask they’ll show you the twins.

When I win the Powerball I am going to buy an old Navy PT boat and cruise around swamping and capsizing wakeboard boats. When the owners complain I'll say, "Hey, that's just my way of enjoying the lake. Sound familiar?"

Apparently when you purchase such a boat, at some point the salesman says:

"Well congratulations, you are really going to love your new boat, but before you go out on the water, I want to give you this flat bill ball cap, which must be worn backwards at all times when operating the boat, and you will notice it is a florescent color, making it visible to everyone on the lake, and confirming to them that you are, in fact, a doooshh."

"Now of course the stereo system in your new boat is second to none and costs $1000s of dollars just by itself alone and it comes standard on all of these type boats. The stereo is very easy learn and is even hands free, meaning it comes from the factory with some random god awful gangsta ho rap music compact disk. The CD is permanently installed inside the cd player and plays on an "infinity" (TM) loop with the volume set on the highest setting. The volume knob has been removed to avoid any accidental and/or intentional decrease in decible levels and potential loss of boat cred."

"And finally, here is a quick start guide to launching your boat, which gives you some really good tips and techniques on how to maximize your time at the boat ramp and that things go smoothly when you eventually get around to actually launching your boat. Some tips include, a) which family member, friend, and/or guest is the best choice to get into a cussing fit with as you line up the boat to back down the ramp and continuing on until you are past the no wake bouys; b) How to avoid hitting other vehicles in the lanes on either side of you as you take up two - three lanes of the ramp to back the boat down the ramp; c) the top three derogative things to say when someone at the ramp offers to assist you. Most importantly, included in the quick start guide is a handy dandy check list of items that you need to be sure to put on the boat once you have the boat backed down and almost in the water."

"So, again congratulations on your new boat and wishing you many years of good times being a supreme arsehoIl on the lake!"
