Family camped near some lake in Washington, St when I was young, maybe 5-6 yrs old. We had a grill on the sand going for most of the weekend. We were packing up and about to leave and hear a bloody death scream from one of my sisters. She had walked in the sand where the grill had been and burned her feet BAD. I got my azz beat after getting home because I complained about them putting her feet into most of the cold kool-aid we had left and I was thirsty. Her feet turned out ok.

My buddies and I camped a lot as kids. Usually with no tent and just sleeping on the ground. We never paid much attention to weather back then and ended up camping in a very powerful front. We got the bright idea to sleep in the middle of numerous fires and eventually were in a ring of fire. Slept just fine but I wonder to this day how we didn’t die of smoke inhalation.

10x10 umbrella tent and all of us slept in it until I bought my own pup tent selling all-purpose cards from an ad in Boys Life.
Yeah, even as a kid I thought it was "crowded".

Nighttime campfires, scrounging around the woods, coming back with hands full of leaves, throw then on the fire and watch them virtually explode. Then go back for more. Again. And again. And again..... Drove my mother nuts, thought I was training to be an arsonist.

Fishing, a man knows a serenity of soul and peace of mind that he finds in doing nothing else, and it makes no difference whether or not he catches anything. The mind of a true fisherman is not on petty subjects.
