That Basscat SP doesn’t have a narrow deck. If you haven’t seen the pics then you need to Yes it does, beams only 94”. SP stands for special package. It’s the STS series that has wide front decks.

If you want to spend the full 80 I’d get one of the close out 521r on sale at pros choice Good deals, won’t fit in my garage, and, I’m not in the market for a Ranger.

I had a skeeter years ago, purchased new. I've got a Nitro now and I like it a whole lot more. Skeeter would be low on my list.

It’s a crying shame that a person can spend what these new boats cost and they have quality control issues. Surely these workers building boats are making a somewhat decent living, if not, then I guess it explains the lack of care given at the manufacturing plant. I don’t make cr*p financially and I still strive to give customers a good product, guess that’s a dying way of thinking. “Give others a product, that you’d like to have given to you”. Absolutely pathetic, really hate what this country has become.

I love my ZXR20 and been pretty happy with every Skeeter I've had but it's gonna be hard not to give Phienix a try next time around. As long as it's got a SHO I will be happy.

I just came out of a Skeeter FXR into a Phoenix 21XE. Skeeter has had a lot of QC issues on boats coming out of factory. And seeing they are under new management and took away the Select boat, I was out. I had no issues with Skeeters ride. It’s a good boat. But I have been highly impressed with this Phoenix I’m in. Giant cockpit, large deck space and rides like a dream. It’s a soft riding boat.

I've fished out of a Phoenix PHX19 and loved it and obviously own an older Skeeter. I've been hearing QC issues about the newer Skeeters as well, based on that alone I'm not hearing anything bad about Phoenix QC at all. I'd also heard rumor that Bass Cat was coming out with a value based 20 footer, whether that is true or not is left to be seen. Realistically with a loaded out tournament rig and what all the add on's cost; motor, electronics, shallow water anchors, and trolling motor, I think high 60's to low 70's is about as good as it is going to get. Can you do it cheaper? Yes a lot if you buy a base Nitro or a boat equipped like that. I also think there could be some things done to lower the prices and the main one would be to roll back the EPA regulations that have been imposed on outboards. I'm for clean air but honestly if you look at how often the average outboard is actually ran long term the amount of pollution you can attribute to them is probably going to be way less; probably a small fraction of 1%. Electronics and trolling motor cost are probably way inflated to because of the companies that have acquired the companies that produce this stuff are demanding extreme profits. My two cents.

I own a Skeeter, as do many of my friends. ZX’s, FX’s, ZXR 20’s (a few different years). Every one of them has or had issues with them. My skeeter has its day too.
I would seriously look at the Phoenix, but I’d also take a long look at Caymus. I have friends with BassCats, they have very few issues, but GD they are the ugliest things on the water. …..and ya have to look at it to use it. Never understood the BC triangular livewell lids. Still think that is an odd inefficient design. They are rigid and fast if that's what you want in a boat.

Boats don’t have a chance. I know boats are expensive- but relative to the low production numbers and cost of materials- it’s not to be unexpected that they will have issues. Boats are built on lines at such a slow rate, it’s just extremely labor intensive.

Are there any new to recent Charger 203 or 210 Elite owners in this thread, curious? I run a 2017 FX21 bought new and its been a great boat. However, my 2001 Champion 203 Elite was the best built boat I've ever owned and kept it 14 years. No complaints with my Skeeter, curious if the Charger Elites held up as well as the Champion Elites?

Funny how everyone wants a new champion and Charger delivered but they dont want to pay today’s price for a 20 year old design.
