I wonder how how long it will take Texas to follow suit.

They need to follow. I know i have seen a difference in the number of fish in the lake I have been fishing for 20 years. The "Video game" has messed up fishing.

The gene pool could use a little chlorine.

All lakes have up and down cycles and creel limits change but its easy to blame FFS as its the fashionable thing to do.

Well they did a study... those with FFS catch 2-3X more fish than those not using it and in the last 3 years its gone from 20% of their anglers using FFS to 70%.

That is not blaming FFS, its just what they actually observed.

I like their limit. 10 per day, no more than 25 in a boat regardless of number of anglers. People taking limits regularly end up throwing away freezer burned fish a year later. Take what you can use in a day. No one needs 25 crappie.

Buddies with several guides at Grenada and they all say it’s not what it used to be. Understand for months out of the year every ramp on that lake is packed with crappie anglers though. When the waters low and some ramps are closed you gotta get there stupid early just to get a parking spot. TPWD doesn’t care about crappie so I don’t see anything changing here but I wish it would. I don’t think we’ll ever fish them out but big fish are taking a hit for sure IMO.

MR. Dan 90210 with all due respect sir It`s hard to say what No one needs when you don`t know their situation. Some anglers fish to feed their communities capt.I personally like to help feed the elderly who are unable to get out and fish for them selves in my little neck of the woods and treat them to a fish dinner or fish fry every now & then.

All good brother. I applaud that. But I bet you are the exception and not the norm. Way more freezer burned crappie hit the trash then are given to the needy.

By that logic why not have 100 fish limit? Then we could feed way more people. The need is there. The reason you do not is because its about the sustainability of the resource, not how the resource is distributed after being taken.

I wonder if the guides will lower their rates. It looks like the going rate is $400.00 for 1 person. Forty dollars per fish! rolleyes
