They are not letting any water out. Outflow of 16 is probably about as low as they can go. It was 1000+ two weeks ago before a new wave of rain topped everything off again. Good thing is the Sandbass are active, and are getting easier to catch. Remember stay in the 25ft range to locate, and adjust. I tried out in deeper water but they would always be in the 24-28 range in massive schools. If you hear of anyone who lost a kayak have them get in touch with me. Take care all, working next 3 days.

Lake Grapevine is 551.45 and still rising. There is a lot of floating debris due to rising water and changes in wind direction. I couldn’t believe the number of wakeboard boats running down wind this evening.

Went out Friday in the yak and didn't recognize the place! The high water ramp in Murrell Park is closed. With a little finagling you can put a kayak in there but that's going to be it. There's so much flooded cover, junk in the water, mud lines etc. that I think the fish don't know what to do. Or I didn't know what to do because I didn't have a bite.... still, nice day. I saw two other kayakers but other than that not a single other vessel was out there Friday morning that I saw. I would not advise anyone to be pulling wake boards or tubers. I covered a small area but saw plenty of large floating debris that would be bad news for someone being towed.

I'd like to know if any of the ramps are still open. I don't have a beach/shore launchable rig.

Ferris should be the only one open right now. Unless you know where, it's going to be the only spot. There are three spots around the lake that you can "secretly" launch a boat, but I am not going to say. I'm thinking of a canoe trip in the morning to look around the upper end, I still have a ton of areas that I want to explore up the lake. Last time the lake was up this high the beach became a Sandbass bonanza. I was catching them 5 at a time on a setup that had braid to a leader with 5 baits. It was amazing, but the water needs to settle and clear up for that to happen . The outlet of Denton Creek is coffee with cream colored water right now. Be careful all

If it does not stop raining... like today, now, its going over the spillway like it did in 15. In my dream world they would hold it where it is now for a long while and it will become a flipping heaven. As in flipping brush and trees. And keep 90% of the ski boats off the lake Yes I like what interests me... not wake boats.

For those that don't remember this. I was standing next to the spillway just awestruck! This was right after the epic drought of 1980.
Another major rainfall that occurred Oct. 31, 1981, sent water gushing over the spillway as the lake reached a historic high of 563.5 feet in what has become known as the Great Flood.
"The force of the water rushing out of the lake ripped out bridges crossing Denton Creek below the dam at Fairway Drive and Dalton Road," according to a report in the now defunct Grapevine Sun. "The creek itself was widened and deepened to a roaring river of water more than 70 feet across and 40 feet deep."
The Grapevine Municipal Golf Course was "inundated with 13 holes underwater," according to the report. Also, lakeside businesses were swamped, lift stations were flooded and thousands of fish littered the roads and shoreline areas around the 7,280-acre lake.
Flooding of area roads was widespread. The rushing water "created an awesome and beautiful, if temporary, natural wonder," according to the Grapevine Sun. The waters tore away layers of topsoil, exposing natural formations and "creating a 70-foot-wide, 50-foot-deep chasm filled with rushing water."
"The sight attracted hundreds of sight-seers who walked more than a mile over the barricaded dam to watch the waters cascading down from the spillway, creating leaping columns of water sometimes 10 feet high," according to the report.
After the waters subsided three weeks later, a deep channel created by the rushing water yielded an unexpected discovery—dinosaur tracks.
These tracks were a first in Tarrant County, and archeologists determined they were the first hadrosaur tracks in Texas. The hadrosaur was a duck-billed dinosaur that lived in the area about 80 million years ago.
Cast replicas of the dinosaur tracks are on display in the Grapevine Historical Society Museum, 705 S. Main St. The museum is open on weekends.

I visited Ferris this morning. The ramp appeared open. Knowing the general location of the pipe railings is important to avoid damaging your equipment. The NOAA site shows the lake at 553+, about 18 feet high. The marina parking lot was completely submerged.

Anybody know where there's currently easily accessible bank access and a good spot to practice throwing a cast net without it getting ripped up?

Just go-to any of the parks by the baseball field just west of Scott's Marina. All the nice green grass (which is underwater) is perfect to practice your throwing. When I was teaching my son, we just practiced in the front yard. The shad are in 25 ft of water during the day, and before sunrise I haven't seen any on the ramps.
