Legitimate question here guys. What is the real advantage to spending thousands on an intake to gain 2 to 6 mph? You may honestly get to your hole 15 seconds faster. Is it better for skinny water? Midrange better?🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

Sounds to me he was going too fast for the conditions and panicked, maybe too much boat for the capability of the driver. Also I know I wouldn’t have put my 18-20 year old kid in a “hot” boat. I don’t think the whole story has been told yet. JMHO!

Dude there are a group of people who will do anything to squeeze every last bit out of boat. The cat page on the other forum is full of prop threads. Guys flash their engines, intakes. Be sure that the lithium craze wasn't started because they last forever. It started because guys wanted 100 lbs out of boat to go faster. Just running about 70 isn't enough....

Would you throw bowlers who spend untold hundreds of dollars at bowling balls but can't pick up a simple spare into the same bucket???... Or the pool player who has several sticks but suck at 8 ball???... Or the softballer with aluminum bats that cost a couple hundred bucks a bat but can't get the ball out of the infield???... Or the duff golfer who has 10k in clubs and the secret weapon putter but can't break even par at the putt putt course???... There are 1000's of hobbies where guys spend untold amounts of cash for a perceived advantage, real or otherwise... Us bass boaters are no different than any other crowd... Dan

100%, its just human nature. I guess the issue here is a boat is way more dangerous when used in an unsafe manner

But people will turn their 16 year old kid loose in a 3500lb car capable of running 90+ mph and not have a second thought... Then a year later wonder where all the dents in the door, crumpled bumpers, dented quarter panels all happened... Oh forgot, cracked windshields... Dan

Carter doesnt need to brag, he has done an awful lot of winning, including a boat. A lot of it out of that boat. As usual, you are talking out of your butt. Only insecure people have to count how many big fish they have caught out of a certain boat, and brag about it. Carter is not insecure.

I think the morale of my story is you don’t need a boat that costs 100K and goes 80 to catch fish. Especially if you don’t know how to drive, which is about 75 or more percent of boaters, if I had to guess.

Being proud of having caught big fish out of a cheap little boat isn’t showing insecurities, it’s saying you don’t need the biggest to have success. What are you proud of?

You seem to want to hop in here and say things like “in Texas the wind blows and the waves get big, and you HAVE TO HAVE a hotfoot” like the wind doesn’t blow and waves don’t get big on Mille Lacs, LOTW, and the Great Lakes. Lake Superior makes the biggest lake in TX look like a little mud puddle, it’s like the ocean, complete with people surfing waves.

Go take any of the biggest bass boats out there on a windy day. There is a reason many bass guys would fish out of ranger 620/621s when they were allowed to use different boats on the elites. It’s not bragging, it’s just how it is.

I’m not ignorant I’ve lived in both places, I know what is in TX. You better go before you get called to the principals for not working during a school day

Thanks for your concern, but I told my principal that some yankee doesnt think a hotfoot is necessary, and he said correcting you must be my priority....

I love the gratuitous "don’t need a boat that costs 100K and goes 80 to catch fish"... I bet you can't catch most fish that swim in our water going over 5mph either... Some people enjoy their tins with a hand tiller and the sound of the water bouncing off the sides... Others enjoy their glitter rockets, cruising at 80+ with bugs in their teeth because they're smiling from ear to ear... Everyone's free to enjoy whatever makes them happy as long as it legal... Dan

Could you clarify ‘’our water’’, what water is yours?

Sure... It's a lot like Woody Guthrie's song, This land is your land, this land is MY land... As taxpayers we all pay for the upkeep of OUR natural resources, waters and land... Dan
