I used to fly in Helicopters almost daily for 3 years, and fog was a non starter for every helo pilot I ever met. With encouragement they would fly 15 feet of the deck and chase burros and wild horses, dive into canyons, buzz boats super low level on lake Mead, do hammerheads and all kinds of "unsafe" stuff but if it was foggy or the cloud deck was super low... they aint flying. A non starter.

You are just too dependent on being able to see where the ground and other objects are relative to the aircraft, especially true over mountainous or urban terrain.

BUT if I wanted something to look like an accident... helo hard landings happen especially in bad weather. Wink wink.

Makes you wonder if the Israelis have had crash your helicopter software bugs installed on that bird for months or maybe years. Just waiting for a "rainy" errr... foggy day.
