Kids are grown and gone now so most of the time it is just me.
Put the grandkids to work helping when they are here and want to earn some money.
I have told them I will not just give them money but if they want to work to earn it, I will pay them for doing so. They help with fence work, tree trimming and whatever else I ask them to do.

Very cool Steve. You just gave me some ideas............ thumb

We have 2.5 acres, I mow my own. Bought a Kubota Z150 ZT, Stihl gas powered trimmer, chainsaw, etc. for the yard service. It takes me 4-6 hours each week to keep it up to my standards. It's my weekly therapy / extended exercise.

We were paying someone at first to do it and the were charging $300 per visit.

Yep, we have 5 acres, I couldn't afford to have anyone else do it. It gets out of hand with this much rain, I spent 4 hours just weedeating yesterday. I declared all out war on beggars lice.

I'm about ready to go Madmax on them

Probably 75% of the yards in my subdivision have lawn service. A lot of those lawns donโ€™t look very good. Nobody has their kids mow. You never see a kid even take out the trash.

This is what gets me, kids these days don't do squat, ok most kids Spags, lol

Was at the lease for the last 3 days, using the walk behind trimmer to weed eat inside and out 3 feeder pens and 2 blind areas including the camp area. grass/weeds were 2-3 ft tall and damn thick after all the rain this spring. As soon as I got home, I cut and edged my yard before the rain came in. This was with a blown-out knee.

I don't know if we even have a yard mowing service in this town. Most residence park cars on their yard.

Mom mows the yard for exercise. She will be 73 in July and wants to stay active, but thinks walking is boring, but apparently walking and pushing a mower isn't. I don't know. She had her hip replaced on Friday, so I'll be mowing it for the time being. I work 6 days a week, so I won't push mow as it takes 1.5 hours to mow the acre lot. I'll ride the mower I bought for her lazy idiot brother that mooches off her and now me. Ugh. Most people in our subdivision mow their own, but there are a few houses that use lawn services.

Bob, I know you're not a fan of masks, but if you have poison ivy/oak and burn it, please wear a respirator/N95 mask, something...you can actually inhale that and it can do bad things. My aunt learned that the hard way.

Agreed ! Can erupt internally in the airway linings.

Advice? Wise men don't need it. Fools won't heed it.

Despite my current situation, owning a "gifted" Cub Cadet with a Kohler engine, I do it myself.

I'm appreciative of my buddy who gave me an old CC, but it's been a pain to use.

With luck, each week it starts!
I love doing the yard!

...!
