Sounds like that may be a nice feature to have if you are fishing for largemouth or crappie that like to hang around structure. If you mainly target stripers and white bass I can't see it being helpful because the schools move constantly. There is only one feature on modern trolling motors that I use, and it has been a game changer for me. That is the "anchor" feature on Minn Kota. I deploy my trolling motor and then idle around with the big motor until I find the school. Once I find the school I kill the big engine and push the "anchor" button on my Kota remote to hold me on the spot.
