His BFS rig ought to throw 1/16 oz. lures without any problems. They are made for ultralight lines and lures.

Flying or driving up?
Check back for a weather report before you come up.
After some thought a very small Senko might work behind a small jig head.

Toaster, thank you very much for the reply and pics. Can you tell me what size Ugly Duckling stickbait you were throwing? If I cant find it, do you think a Rapala would suffice? Thanks again. They were 2” to 2 1/2” long. I can’t find them either. I called the guy that put me onto them and he said they quit making them several years ago. It was good catching up w him, hadn’t spoke to him in years so thanks for that. I’m sure the Rapala’s would work fine. Also as stated, I’m sure your float guide will help you out as well. Good luck, it’s an awesome state to fish!
It's only a good cast if you catch a fish... Personal Best: 11.62 lbs

The panther martin deluxe dressed silver/orange will catch freshwater fish just about anywhere.
It was a different world when we were boys and girls....

Totally non traditional fly fishing but if you are going to use a bait caster I’m guessing “traditional” doesn’t matter to you! I have flat slayed the trout with this lure when all the purest were not catching w/their dry flys, nymphs…… Preface: I love fly fishing and catching trout on flys but when you want to tear em up even when the bite is slow….. My set up: a fly rod w/a MINI Trout Magnet jig head and a Berkley 1” minnow. Twitched across stream. As others have said: baitcasters are not generally used for trout fishing but your Diawa Pixy is not a traditional baitcaster. Try this combo on your set up with some 2-4lb fluorocarbon. But I do agree that a light action spinning rod will serve you better. ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2024/05/full-34948-225535-img_0377.png)
