cool, thanks. Could be someone put a 200 cowling/divider on it or changed the powerhead although it was running a 25 Trophy on the 22' boat. Luckily I bought it for the boat and trailer and have a 2003 200 EFI to put on it. Just looking to check this motor out before I swap them out. Still looking for a parts motor, no telling what else may be needed Also a trim motor/pump... could be thats a pretty big prop and boat for a 150.. but they did have 2 ta one gears on tha 2.0 motors.... motors that old ya never know what its been through and/or whats been changed... lotta "frankenmercs" out there... can't put a 200 air box ona 150 or vice versa... reed plate is little different puting tha carb mounting a little different....

lol, rare boat that I have seen 3 different names. Titled as a 1994 XCS-2200 Jaguar built by BISTINEAU FIBERGLAS CO. AKA 22' PHAROAH, AKA Shadow 22 Magnum (actually has 22 Magnum on the console.) This is a later model, not the tunnel hull Shadow built using chop gun. can't see much in this pic, I'll get more later...
1987 Nitro MX185/Mercury Black Max 150 (needs lots of work, put motor on nephew's boat) 1994 XSC-2200 "Jaguar" AKA Shadow 22 Magnum (restoring w/Mercury 200 XRI) 1994 Pantera II (restoring w/Mercury 200 EFI) 1999 Triton TX21/225 Mercury Optimax

Researched the motor a bit more, stamped 200 on the top of the block, 148.1 on the side (cubic " = 2.4L) 7 81 (date matches serial number that I finally found with correct drawings), front clamshell cowlings use a flat plastic latch instead of the 2 turnbuckle style latches due to clearance issues with the 150 style airbox (this latch is said to be specific to the 200).
From what I read the block with the 200 stamped on top is a chrome bore 2.4L early 80's used with horizontal reeds for the 200 and 175 with the vertical reeds. There were many carbs used but this has the WH12 carbs that were also used on the 150, the go fast guys say these give a higher velocity fuel mixture to the motor...
I scoped 1 cylinder but even with the light turned almost off it was so bright it was hard to see much....pretty sure it is a chrome bore. I was able to see the top of the piston looked great and when I ran the piston all the way down could make out a large oval port, not a bridge port. Maybe what is called a finger port, it has that shape to it...
Once I get the correct starter for it I'll check compression, the research said these powerheads had a much higher compression from the factory and actual HP was around 225, and 245 on the later EFI models...if true this would match up with it being able to pull the 26p Trophy that came on it....

ya got good information of specifics of tha motor... tha 200 had a five petal horz. front where tha 225 ('80/'81) had a seven petal.. ya might wanna check for those.. a really stout motor with right set up and touch a tweakin' on it... tha cowls/latch/airbox/throttle levers were specific to tha horizontal reed carbs.. i had all three over time... all three 2.4's were stout motors.. tha 175 was underrated.. most could run with tha 200 pretty easy.... 245 efi was from high performance... completely different from production efi... production efi didn't show till '87 and was a bust pretty much... fuel milage went up justa tad with it though....
should turn tha trophy ok.. which trophy it is.. A45? thats one of tha best ones but or prone ta chunk a blade ever now and then.. keep an eye on it for cracks....

Thanks, I'll check which Trophy it is, I also run Trophy props on my 225 Opti so I have a couple others to try, a 24p and 25p, and a Fury 3 in 24p or 25p (don't remember)
