I think Arthur Itis has come to visit me. The last few weeks my thumbs on both hands are clicking when flexing them. Especially in the morning. There are painful nodules at the base joints of my thumbs. As the day wears on they get better, no clicking. Can this be a medical problem or is it just old age and osteoarthritis? I have been doing a bunch of yardwork, shovels, weedeaters, etc. I may have injured them, not sure. The OT is the only place to get good medical advice.

may be torn tendons it can be fixed my finally locked up. They go end and cut it since you have two more. I have had both thumbs operated on about 5 years on one and 8 years on the other.

My knees and ankles and wrists click like that every morning for about an hour when I wake up. Could it be that the clicking just spreads around more as you get older?

I used this have arthritis in my knees and knuckles for years-
But I wouldn’t go as extreme as I had to go to not have arthritis anymore-- Pretty sure less invasive procedures are around-
Just saying-

I think I got it this year... fingers, wrists, elbows, shoulders.. dont know if its from holding the steering wheel for so many hours a day while driving or from paddling. Making life a lot less enjoyable as every move is painful.

Just saying- Yeah, you definitely took the extreme approach there. So I've heard of the phantom pains from the nerve endings. Do you experience phantom arthritis too?

Could be, but could be tendinitis...go see a doctor. Maybe. I have been taking Advil and Tylenol cocktails at night to reduce any inflammation. No help. Just resting and there is no pain, unless I push on the thumb base joint, i can feel it is tender on both. Here is an odd note. If I play guitar for a half hour or more, the clicking goes away and the thumbs work fine. Then it comes back if I am just resting. If it doesn't improve in another week or so I may go see a hand doctor. I am reluctant to see my family doc because he will prescribe some OTC vitamin or herb. I like that he is not one to prescribe narcotics or pharmaceuticals but he is way on the herbal supplement extreme. None of that shiz works for me. Super Beta prostate and all of those other things are nothing but high dollar snake oil.

Have you tried CBD? I take gummies to help me sleep, and have noticed they really help with my chronic back pain as well.

I feel your pain Bob. Thumbs have been popping and locking up for a few years, now a few other finger joints are joining the party. Then there’s the knees and elbows. I’m broken down frankly

Sorry to hear. Both of your thumbs? This getting old stuff is not for the feint of heart man. I haven't thought about CBD. I have been taking Glucosimine (sp.?) and Quonol 10 because I take a Statin for high cholesterol. I've had both knees scoped, Spine fusion at L5/S1, and full LH hip replacement, so now that I can walk good, my thumbs go to shiz. WTH? Then again, I have seen 70 years on this planet. Steve, you sure have a great sense of humor my friend!
