Sounds like a bargain. I bet the shipping was extra inexpensive too!

I’m really interested in how those Belgian pool walls work They use a matrix of square holes in the panels, deeper than other manufacturers. The Belgians are good at this.

Is this for testing lures? I’m thinking about coming off the water or the beach and just walking on in. Clothes and all. Maybe grab a beer on the way.

This seems like a small pool. My cash pocketbook had a limit, and this exceeded that limit. The things we do for our wives. But yes, 12 X24x 52”h.

It looks that way, but the pool sides will be higher and fill outside the pooll will compensate. 52” depth.

Shhhhh. That’s enough. No talkin during a no hitter. Only in the 3rd. You can mention how well its going. Not until about 6 and 2/3 you have to stop talking. Kind of like in bowling if a guy has an 8 bagger you can mention it. But if he strikes in the 9th you STFU.

In the movie This is Spinal Tap; the band need to revive their tour so management and the band agree to spend more money on production. The band agree that performing their song “Stonehenge” with replica life size statues of the Stonehenge nearly 20ft monuments would enhance the show and bolster audience enjoyment. Nigel Tuffnel, the band’s ADD and other impaired guitarist hands specific instructions detailing the grandiosity of the monument replicas on a napkin. The band’s manager then insists he will follow the instructions precisely.

Is this for testing lures? My dad had a deed pool. 1/2 the pool was 10' deep. I threw a 10lb striper in there once. He was not happy. He said how do you plan on getting it out? I said with my cast net if chlorine does not kill it first.

A little more progress. The Belgian waffle sides are up. Next, they lock in the base with more concrete.

It’s relatively new in the states and def new in Texas. I think there’s somebody in North Texas doing them but I’m the first in South Texas. Might even be in a magazine soon lol. Guess I better mow the yard. Being the guinea did give me $3000 drop.

Looks like a cool product/process. We are seeing a bunch more of the "assembled" pools being put in these days but they are using steel panels rather than synthetic material. I like the idea...no corrosion or electrical bonding concerns. We currently have three property owners in our jurisdiction ripping their gunite pools out due to ASR...alkali-silica reaction...a.k.a. concrete cancer. All of them covid-era installs. Can be caused by several factors but these instances are apparently due to improper mix ratios...too much silica. Silica absorbs water, swells up and cause cracking/spalling. This particular builder said they could have 20-30 more. I can't believe there are really that many though. And the issue doesn't seem to be isolated. I am seeing chatter about this from other areas of the State as well. At this point it seems like more of an insurance fraud frenzy a-la the mold panic in the late 90s/early 2000s is about to happen.
Good luck with the remainder of your project. Glad you have a quality contractor. Pool builders around here are definitely at the bottom of the barrel...and it isn't close.

Quite a bit has happened. Everything has been backfilled. Electrician has come and gone. They poured a perimeter concrete beam today that locks the pool in place and are installing the alkorplan membrane (liner). I'll pop some pictures this afternoon.

Curious as to cost savings verses inground pool?

A friend in the neighborhood has a fire hydrant in front of house. He had access to a hose to fit it. Filled his pool in a few hours.

They are laying the travertine coping today. After that will be a 3’ concrete walkway around the pool, which will tie into the pergola foundation. So the total pool foot print will be 20 X 32.

I had a pool in East Texas surrounded by oaks that did just that. The closest limbs on the closest tree here is 10 ft away. I'm not averse to cutting it down, but I'll wait and see for now. In fact, I offered to do just that, but the contractor said I was good. I trimmed it way back and thinned it out. Plus the dominant breeze from the bay pushes them away. We'll see.

About four weeks. We were on a waiting list for about 2 months before that. Answering an earlier post, it's hard to say what the cost difference for a regular pool would be. I didn't price gunite. An ICF pool would run 10 to 15 more. Fiberglass over that if I remember correctly. Lots of variables to consider. One like this would cost you in the low 70's if done in this area and with this contractor.

So, I passed the final inspection this morning. AP requires a self closing gate, a six foot fence and alarms on all doors and windows facing the enclosure. I had all that in place. The only problem I saw coming was that my access gate was hard to self close when 30mph winds blew. So I did all kind of scientific things trying to make it work. I built an opposite force panel to pivot the door closed. I put four spring hinges on the gate and also added another spring. I then added a wind block to keep the wind from hammering the open side of the gate. Proved to be unnecessary. Anyway, passed final. Good to go.

Wow that was $70k?
