I know one thing...with all the spicy food I consume / pass, there's no chance of me getting anything around there. I literally nuclear holocaust it weekly.

Yes, clean as a whistle as the GI doc will irrigate for clearer imaging and at the end the nurse baby wipes after the procedure.

My wife had a colonoscopy, which looked Ok, but she said she had something not right in her guts. She pressed for more testing, which they finally agreed to. A sharp eyed young doctor said that he could see a small spot that didn’t look right. It turned out to be colon cancer. They took out the cancer. She’s fine now, but it was a scare.
An old friend of mine was on the 10 year plan. About year 7, he started having gut problems. He was eaten up with colon cancer. Lasted about 2 years.
Get scoped!

I'm almost 66 and I didn't lose my virginity until I was 64. I held out on a colonostamy untill 64 because I never worried about it. My wife ask me very nicely if I would get a scope for her and our kids and grandkids. So I did. Doc said all was good. I've often wondered about docs that do scopes. They could have chosed plastic surgery and looked at beautiful women all day. Or delivered babies and seen life begin. But nope. They want to put a scope up a man's BOBO for a living. Something just isn't right about that.

Something just isn't right about that. Some do it because of loved ones losing their life to it. This is very common in the medical field. They dedicate their lives to learning and helping others so they don't suffer like they had to.

Something just isn't right about that. Most reconstructive/plastic surgeons are not looking at beautiful women all day. Many are dealing with high maintenance 4/10 Karens who think they are 8/10, but want to look 10. Most doctors choose specialties based on their life experience. I’d guess many GI doctors had a family member saved or successfully treated by a colonoscopy screening or upper GI scope when they were teenagers….or something similar.

I would get a colonoscopy every year if needed to keep me from going through what my brother went through for six years before finally dying of colon cancer. My grandmother died from colon cancer, my mother had it and my brother waited until 58 for his first colonoscopy. He was stage four and they kept him alive for six years.

Doc said that he appreciated my thorough prep work and cleanliness. Only 2 very small polyps. I think that's not bad for first one in 57 years. Let me know if y'all want pics.

Man, very tough to hear pchapin.
If I remember correctly, colorectal cancer is third after heart disease and lung cancer as far as medically related causes of death in the US.

I get one yearly. Lost Mom, sister, granfather, and a couple of aunts to it. So yes, it runs in the family. It's a tough way to go.

I think that's true of most healthcare professionals. I went into massage due to my own back surgery at 19 and having pain as a constant companion...massage has always helped me deal with it and now I get to help others. I have a 20-year-old client that is premed. He wants to actually do cancer research due to his own father being diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer. The dad is 47 and it has now metastasized to his liver. I know several nurses, doctors, PTs, etc. that went into healthcare because of their own experiences or the experiences of loved ones.
