Starting to clear the attic. Stuff should have never gone up there but they are hard for me to part with. Not a hoarder but some things have significance to me. No one will care past me. Example, my sister made a papery mache turkey in grade school. We had it on our Thanksgiving table every year growing up. After she passed my sister and I couldn't decide what to do with it. Anyone else have issues?

I still have every bicycle my girls had from 3yo to 16yo in the garage.
I don’t think I’ve ever thrown anything worth more than $25 away.
My parents were post WW2 rationed Brits in far north East Yorkshire which is prone to flooding and resulting potential month long isolation until the main roads to other towns cleared. They never threw away anything worth more than $10….and recycled everything including the cardboard from cereal boxes and the aluminum you remove from small yogurt containers…every tea bag and coffee ground was mulched into compost for the farm.

I still have a Whitesnake T-shirt ABQ Patty wore stored away in a box, every time I run across it still smells like her perfume.

save anything YOU think is important or just worth it.

while I was in the Navy, everything I owned including a substantial coin collection (uncle gave it to me) and a new kawasaki 175 enduro (thanks for stealing it lil bro!) was either trashed or given away, the bike ended up in vo tec shop never to be seen again.

sometimes personal reasons are valid.

What has happed to you does not define who you are-

HOW you react to what happens to you DOES!

We've been getting rid of stuff we haven't used in years. I was considering getting rid of some guns but I came to my senses.

I still have half-dozen boxes of my youngest daughter's stuff in the attic. She's supposed to come get them...

We are almost to the end of a full blown house purge. I have made at least 15 trips to the dump in the past few months, goodwill, operation kindness and others getting almost everything else. The stuff was coming out of attics, closets and cupboards everywhere. Unreal what you amass in 26 years. Some of it has me thinking a bit but overall it’s been real easy for us.

Did your family really dislike you?

when your father threatens to kill you after you came home on holiday leave, has an uncle (by marriage only, scum bucket att exec) help him try to all on the day before thanksgiving at my fathers parents house.

yes, I would say that qualifies. I found out late in life I was my daddies mistake as a sailor, mother came from a super strict (hypocritical) first baptist family, it was 1954 and I was an "OOPS!"

last but not least by far was when I moved from guthrie to fork I found out 3 days prior my dear father had filed felony theft charges in edmond Okieland, for "stealing" a remington 1100 12ga./colt ar 15.

both were in his closet in new green canvas gun cases I put them in for some sort of storage.

anything else I can help you with?

facts are facts and I have no problem with them. grin

oh, are you going to call me al liar again, is this going in that direction? just askin, ya know.
