In 2022 Biden started releasing a million barrels a day from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve. In an amazing coincidence, he timed the release to start six months before the mid-term election and end as soon as it was over. Poof, 180 million barrels of oil intended for national security purposes gone so Democrats could try to win elections.
It will shortly be time for more of the same, using resources intended to help all of us as a Democrat slush fund.

SPR is at roughly 50% full. It was 100% full in 2009. Capacity is around 720 million barrels. It is around 355 now. In an amazing coincidence the release started as oil prices were hovering around $100 a barrel and were threatening to go higher due to Russia's oil and them invading Ukraine. The oil left quicker than it was intended to. There was legislation already passed, as far back as 2015, that would lower the SPR to around 300m barrels by 2032. The money from the sales would be used to service the debt. I don't see the need to refill it and in any case, when they do it will surely be for less than they got selling it.
