Boyd is my daddy?🤷♂️😆. I have never rooted for him in any way whatsoever, I just wished MLF was successful, just like BASS and every other league out there..

Boyd Duckett doesn't make the decisions in a vacuum. The owners (anglers) and Board of Directors have the final say, just like all well-run companies.
BPT didn't turn out like the original concept. As with any start-up, they've had to tweak their model to achieve their goals. Repeatedly. The constant changes to format, field-size and personalities have been tough to follow. With that comes loss of interest in their "product".
Time will tell how things turn out. But it's foolish to argue MLF/BPT and all of their other related trails haven't increased the opportunity for more folks to make money.
I have no knowledge of the internal workings of BPT/MLF. Just some good friends there. They're businessmen. They don't talk shop outside of BPT.
Y'all have a great evening. Hope you catch 'em all! Fouz

agree 100%....have said for several years that Boyd and several others deserve thanks and credit for creating another trail with huge increase in TV exposure that will allow more fishermen to make a better living from fishing especially with the growth of high school and college fishing...

BD is his own worst enemy. Hopefully he’ll be removed before he sinks the ship.

So, when the BPT cuts back to 50 anglers, how many of those opportunities will be given to high school and college anglers? How many will be dropped from the BPT every year? How about ZERO…

... Name which BPT anglers have won several million dollars during the BPT existence. You can look it up via angler profiles on the MLF site. We'll wait for that list.... ... read it again...didn't say 80 fishermen had won several million each....said it has provided millions of dollars in sponsorship and tourament winnings for 80 fishermen... So answer Mark's question... Name which BPT anglers have won several million dollars during the BPT existence... We're waiting... Dan

The top anglers that left BASS and were at the top of FLW are no longer relevant . They joined the chit show and will have to ride it to the end .

I am still confused. Reading all this it seems like MLF is done. But they are on TV all weekend long, have plenty of sponsors for their live broadcasts, and from the outside appear to be doing well. Why is everyone saying they are doomed?

Why is everyone saying they are doomed? Duckett has been on several podcasts talking about having to cut costs, personnel layoffs and such. People are repeating what he and other BPT anglers have personally stated on podcasts.

Ok, that makes sense. Thanks. That would really suck if they go away. There isnt much competitive fishing to watch on TV these days. I enjoy watching the MLF team series and the other shows they have.

Yall better get ready for the changes at the BFL level. The payouts will get worse to fund the bigger trails. Probably the same with the toyotas

It would not bother me if there were 4 or 5 leagues of bass Fishing. First off it will give more anglers and chance to do something they love doing. I would have loved to have fished for a living than sitting in an office all day. Second is it gives us more to watch. It would be boring if there were only two major league baseball teams or two collage football teams. I like diversity and I like the underdogs. Bass, MFL, whatever you want to call your league, go for it, maybe there will be on that only supports 60 and older anglers, then i might could finish in the top 100 a few times. I need to start one with only people over 60, overweight, half blind, can't hear very well, has bad knees. Every tournament would be 6 hours long, roughly 6 am to 12 pm. That is my kind of fishing league I want! Instead of money giving out as prizes, we get a coupon for lower medical cost, lower dental and vision care. Cheaper hearing aids, maybe a slick looking walking cane.......

Hey MLF fan, how many TW circuit guys get the chance to join the BPT next year? I’m guessing zero, but honestly I’m just a fan from a distance, it doesn’t bother me that no one can move up annually.

Requalification and Advancement to the Bass Pro Tour: At the end of the 2024 season, the top five (5) pros based on Angler of the Year rank qualify for the Bass Pro Tour.
