Now. If you're seeing active grubs you want to use Bio Advance grub killer. Then you want to put out Scotts GrubEX. It doesn't kill active grubs. It kills new grubs as they try to enter into the soil. GrubEx will also cover you for the season if we get a army worm outbreak. Both need to be watered in really well.

the only time i know they are there is when the armadillos dig holes in the yard; that's what i'm trying to prevent; guess i'll wait for the 1st hole;

Do you need to wait some interval time between the 2 apps?

Have a question for y'all. I live on Lake Dunlap and have a huge canopy of trees over 1 acre of saint augustine.

My neighbors yard has a gentle slope into mine. His yard looks like garbage. The issue is that I fight brown patch in the fall and dollar spot all year. This spring and last spring have been tough. Water is not an issue since I pump it out of the lake and even then, I have only watered 4 times this year.

The issue is that my neighbor has an aerobic septic system (mine is traditional) and I think I am getting my issues from his yard because he has the thing to go off every night just after midnight. It is literally three water sprinkler heads. His heads do not spray into my yard but I cannot imagine having this fungus issue this bad. I have had this issue to two years running. I think that he is the cause of my issues but I am unsure.....

I have treated the yard twice in the last four weeks, once with Bayer and once with the other brand HD sells in granules. Neither seems to have much effect.

I did fertilize once in March but have refrained because I did not want to put any more nitrogen on the yard while I had the fungus active.

So in summary:

Fertilized in March
Yard looked great
Had two weeks of humid wet, drizzly weather.
Saw signs of fungus that is getting worse
Treated fungus granules twice in 4 weeks
Held off watering and additional fertilizer.

Need input if you guys have any ideas other than dealing with hillbilly neighbor.

Signed,

Frustrated to the point of no return.....

If I was on a acre I would be using a tow behind sprayer on my mower and spraying liquid fungicides and/or fertilizer for the most part.

On Monday I fertilized and put down Scott's Disease X. Has the crazy heavy rain washed it all away? When do you think i should re-apply?

I'd let it ride for a couple weeks. If you got some rain this week before todays flood then some got absorbed and now some is leaching out. You should see a bounce in a couple days once it dries out, If you see it really banging for the next couple weeks just keep going as normal then if you see a growth decline in 4 weeks or so you can add some more. Your 2lb rate is perfect. You can do the X in a couple weeks.

It's been a tough spring with so much rain. I need to find a good rainfall link for the year. It's been an insane amount Really if you need to you can go out with a hose end fertilizer if you need a quick feeding. Most of them you're paying more for the water in the bottle than the NPK value. I'll try and read some labels tomorrow and recommend one that can be found at a box store. Scotts probably has a decent one. Fertilome has a decent 1-2 hose end fungicides that wouldn't be a bad idea to get out once this rain passes and before it gets really hot and humid. If you're not bagging your clipping than you're probably good on fert until next time. If bagging than might want to add a bit more but like I mentioned just watch it and see how it goes the next few weeks for fert.

She has dallis, KR Bluestem, dollar weed and whatever else you can think of. Mostly bermuda with a little St. Aug mixed in as the main turf. Goal is to use herbicides that do not take an applicators license and residential lawn approved. So I am not using msma which would be an easier way out. Going to use the best(cheapest) fertilizer I can find. Which is Walmart Texas Turf 15-5-10 for about $15 a bag.

Started it May 21st. This is what it looked like. I applied 1lb of actually Nitrogen per 1000sq feet via the TX Turf to get the Bermuda and St Aug as healthy as I could before applying herbicides.

Two weeks later June 3rd I applied herbicides. This is 3 days after application. You can see the Bluestem and Dallis turning purple.

This is yesterday June 13th, Pretty much looks like I hoped it would. Herbicides are really doing work. Going to need another application around July 1st for a clean up. I think a few weeks after that app I should have the weeds under control and will focus on pushing fert to get the bermuda or St Aug to fill in. Waiting for the weeds to die off good so I can see how much of each is there before I decide which turf type I will cater to.

Hi Derek

My SIL asked me to help him get his front yard into shape. The yard is covered in the weeds you described your neighbors yard to have had. What herbicides did you use to get her yard under control. I'll be applying them via a sprayer. I looked, and there seems to be a good bit of common Bermuda under all of the weeds. I had him spread some 13-13-13 fertilizer this past weekend to help give the Bermuda a boost before hammering the weeds. TYIA

Revolver, MSM, Celsius, Image. First round was Revolver, MSM, Celsius. About 35-40 days later was MSM and Image. Me a couple guys split Revolver a few years ago when it was about $200 a bottle. It's gone up a lot. If you have King Ranch - Revolver is pretty much a must have. If you don't the other three will do a pretty bang up job. It will at least clean it up enough to know what you're left with.
