I have a system for selecting a local “Steak” place. I always order the pork chop offering. If they can get that right, I frequently visit with family and friends.
Keep looking forward. That’s why windshields are larger than rear view mirrors.

Overall, I think they do it pretty good and I usually order their prime rib. I've had steaks, chicken strips many times too, all good.
Slab of ribs, they advertise as "national award winning" or some such nonsense, leaves something to be desired and do not come off a smoker...
Neither did outbacks or chili's and they sold tons of them Maybe, but I don't remember them claiming to have won any national awards... I think I gave a fair review. Most everything i've had there is good, ribs wouldnt be my first choice.

It's a safe bet. They are usually well run. Is it a world class steak? No. They check all the boxes for a solid family place. Ate at one last night. Agree. I’ve never had a bad meal at TR. This^^^^^ My favorite place to go !!

We like it. First choice over Salt Grass or Outback.

As stated above, the rolls are outstanding.
Steak is pretty typical of any other casual dining place (outback, saltgrass, etc.). One thing I'd caution is their definition of medium rare matches somewhere in between what I call medium and medium well. You must ask for rare fi you want cool pink in the middle, and even then you may end up sending it back.

I've eaten at a few, above outback, below saltgrass.
The only thing that annoys me is they aren't a Texas chain at all, they're HQ in Kentucky.

I'll be honest, I don't eat steak out ever. I make the best. I go out for things i can't make at home like Chinese or Mexican. If I go to a steakhouse I usually get CFS.

It's just like Logan's Roadhouse. I can't tell the difference. TR is 10x better. You can get immediate seating at most all Logan’s, it’s usually a 1.5 hr wait at TR Logans is really a gin mill first, fad restaurant second. Texas Roadhouse food is first and it shows.

I have eaten at quite a few TR around the country. They are pretty consistent. Food is reasonably priced against others. For steak the sirloin is probably the best quality on a cut of steak. Their Ribeye and New York strip aren’t as good when all are compared against other mid level steak 🥩 restaurants. I would think it’s because there isn’t as much market competition for sirloins. Ribeyes and NY Strips are more popular.
They keep pretty busy. Always noisy. First restaurant was in Clarksville IN. There is nothing Texas about Texas Roadhouse. It’s just a concept.

Let be honest, this actually sums up the entire state of Texas nowadays.
