Folks, I've been putting this off for a while but wanted to share some feedback on Don Harper's chips. I know several on here have seen his posts about baits, areas, etc. I'm going to admit at first I was skeptical. I've been using his chip for 2 years off / on. They have helped me build 4-5 areas that I have complete confidence in year round. While I have 3-4 more that I have marked for different times of the year. I'm a believer that his chip helped eliminate time in getting to know the lake.
What I got was a combo chip.

1) Brush piles (Similar to the corp ones that can be found via google, but these are way more accurate and highlighted the better producing ones).
2) Highlighted areas with details around time of year, patterns, etc. on where to look, how to work the area, etc.
I use the brush piles more for crappie and sand bass. I've had fun catching the cooler fillers with this.
The highlighted areas gave me an idea of how to read the contour and also make a first pass of the zone. Basically like a guide on chip.
I found his information, email, with the lengthy details more valuable, than the markers itself in some areas. Others, I had no idea existed and driven over them a few dozen times.

I live between Ray Roberts and Lewisville and have focused a bit more lately on Lewisville. The past several trips I have struggled!

One of the posts on here referenced Don Harper's GPS Chips, I figured that I've wasted at least the $100 in fuel on getting skunked, so I might as well go for it.

The write-ups and thought-process behind the 20 spots are very interesting!
The SD card that was included and popped right into my Garmin. It loaded handy tracks and Waypoints that are easy to reference.


My first trip out with my new notes helped me get onto a pretty good pattern. I fished several areas, many were either blown out from the wind and/or very dirty from the recent rains. Nevertheless, I felt more confident fishing those areas, which is hard to quantify, but it helped me slow down.

I ended up with just shy of a 20lb bag, which is way better than the 1 or 2 fish I might catch recently. It's worth looking into if you're trying to find some places to start on one of our lakes.
