Bailes Modern Muddler at JStockardI like the looks of this fly. Have not tied it yet, but it seems so simple! So that's the challenge! CAN YOU TIE a Baile's? Let's see it.

Looks interesting. Other than the hook, the materials are pretty common. I may substitute a different hook and give it a shot this weekend.
Actually, the occasional "Can you tie this?" challenge might be fun.

I'm thinking any of the 60 degree jig hooks would be close enough for a test run.

I think the eye would be turned wrong? I first thought Stinger, but they are brittle hooks and too short in the shank for this pattern.

Hmm, you're right I didn't notice the eye. That is an odd hook.

Yeah, I saw that email too. Maybe a jig hook is pretty similar? Although I only have them in size 12 and under.

OK, after reading the specs, that is a weird hook. I may try this pattern on one of the 60 degree jig hooks I already own, but I don't think I will buy a hook this unique for just one pattern.

I agree - weird hook. I am going to bend an old Mustaad stainless I have on my pegboard. I figure even if the eye is turned, you can tie a loop knot and get very good action on this fly. Better to try and fail ...

Well that challenge went over like a lead balloon. Try it with Dollar Store formula maybe? Here's a new challenge - The Flippino Midget - aka. Hexy-Nymph -- pretty "common" pieces and parts for this challenge.

Finally got over to Dirty Water Fly Co! Got the hooks. Now to tie the challenge! Not a huge fan of Ahrex hooks, but that's what they use ...

Found some new hooks in the Mustad Signature Series that just might work! It's getting "interestinger."
