CVS put one in and are forcing people to use it. Someone has to stand there and help you as it's a pos. They are not allowed to check you out at a register.

Some self checkouts are ok, I like SC at Home Depot and Lowe’s because I usually only have a few items and nothing has to be weighed, just scan-pay-go. We rarely use SC in the grocery stores

I like self checkout when I don't have to weigh a lot of food. I have no problem if a store decides to shift. Anything that stops theft should make my purchases less expensive. I do hope that means they will now have more manned checkout counters.

I thought self check out is when you and your homies run out of the store with your arms and hands full of product you didn't pay for.

dollar general just announced they will be taking sc out of 500 stores, I think they also said a limit of 10 items to sc.
I use it a lot, home depot, wal mart and a few other places, don't have to deal with checkers and bs.

The dislike of self checkout at stores is just odd to me. I want to get in and out of the place quickly. They are simple to use and makes the whole process more efficient. The really weird arguments are the ones where people say they should get an employee discount for running the checkout themselves.

I grocery shop for a family of 5. I rarely can get my bagged groceries in a single cart. Grocery stores should limit the SC and have plenty of checkout personal. Thomtnumb does it right. Walmart grocery store is finally figuring it out, but the neighborhood Walmart still tries to get you to use SC even with a full cart. Rarely are there 2 open lanes at my location.

Self check out was meant for those with only a few items. What screws it up is olds and stupid people with zero self awareness, who pack their cart full, then use self check out.

I will also point out that paris wal mart has more self checkout lanes now than staffed, half of the sc lanes are backed with bigger areas to set scanned stuff. I can do sc with a full cart and still get done before a checker would, in n out and no dealing with the employees.
