I`ve decided that I wasn`t chasing my PH # anymore. I applied 25 lbs. per 1000 over the past 2 years (250 lbs. entire lawn). It is what it is. Not gonna pay 50 bucks a bag for ES any longer. May quit applying Feature as well. I`m going to do a 18x30 test area with Feature around mid-May and if I`m not blown away I`ll probably use what I have left from last year and call it quits. I`m just not sure that the juice is worth the squeeze. TPack, after adding all the sulfur, did you see a noticeable reduction in pH? My report results are a few posts above and I'm just beginning my journey....

I'm not going to take the time to go out and just make an app of feature though I really like it. I spray pgr about every two weeks and add feature to it. I'm only using about 2 bags a year so the $40 total cost isn't bad. The test plot would be good to see if you setup like a May-June/July and see what you think. I'm typically running it at 1-1.5oz per 1000 per app.

Derek
Can I cover henbit with pine needles now and assume it will die when it's hot, or wait until it dies to put the needles down?
this is a bank that already has some pine needles on it
thanks

You can cover the henbit with the needles. It's going to die off when it warms up. I scalped last weekend. I don't really plan on doing anything until at least the 23rd. I might fertilize that day depending on how the next couple of weeks go and how the forecast looks on that day. Might wait until the 30th which is the actual day I had circled this year to start.

My report results are a few posts above and I'm just beginning my journey.... I haven`t done a soil test since I`ve been applying the Sulphur, so I don`t know if the PH # has changed any. I pulled some samples a few weeks ago but haven`t sent them off yet. I think the best bang for your buck is just mowing more often (twice per week with sharp blades), a proper watering schedule and applying enough of the correct fertilizer to keep the lawn healthy and stress free as possible throughout the summer. The KISS method works on a lot of things. I`m actually more curious how much the PH # changes in a couple of years after I quit applying the ES plus if I can see any noticeable differences. There are lots of beautiful lawns with a high PH that just do the 3 things I listed above. Opinions may vary.

![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2024/03/full-27544-216868-img_1756.jpeg) Had this blow up practically overnight - best way to get rid of it? Last year I had a small patch that I sprayed with roundup, but it killed the grass too. This is too big for that. JR

You won't see dichondra on many labels. Pretty much most of your 3 ways or 4 ways will kill it. Atrazine actually comes into the chat as it is labeled for it. Fertilome Weed free zone is another one. It's a 4 way, but specifically states not to use this during green up. (Though ir's probably the safest to use and you'll most likely be fine, but label is the law) Can't be any worse than the Roundup kill. There are a few brands and product at the box store you can use. Make sure it's labeled for St Aug and read the label. Celsius that was on the YT Pack posted is a great product. I save it for the heat of summer. They now sell it in small packs. I save Image for summer too.

Derek I feel sure you covered this last year but with so many pages I will ask again. I will follow the holiday fert schedule. I still have a bag of 13-13-13 should I start with that or pickup some Scotts Max. Can you confirm best ration for time of year? I'd start with the T13 for a couple of apps then switch to the Max. T13 I would do 2lbs per 1000. If you find it hard to spread that amount evenly you can go up to 3lbs per 1000. 2lbs per 1000 would be .25lbs of actual NPK on the ground. About the perfect amount for St. Aug. I'll need to look at the Scotts label and get back to you.
(Edit-Forgot you were on the Holiday schedule. I would do the 3lb per 1000 on the T13) Hard Rain. Quoting here in the proper channel. I'll work on merging them later. Anyway. I was at Lowes tonight and checked out the Scotts Green Max. 27-0-2. It's packaged liked all their products and will apply 0.90lbs of N at the bagged label rate. Scotts prills are homogenous which is awesome. The Iron in it is Iron Sucrate which is maybe a step above Iron Oxide, maybe. On the holiday schedule I would apply 1/2 the Scotts rate July 4th and Labor Day. So if you did 4 apps that would be 1.6lbs of N .5 of P and about .6-7ish of K. Not bad, if my math is correct. I'd like to see the K number be better. Honestly you would probably get the same or better results if you ran T13 then Ammonium Sulfate 21-0-0, but the Scotts Green is a good product and easy to dump and spread. Keep on rocking on. Mow often and don't bag your clippings.
