Would there be any other spots around to check out? Bass or White Bass. Really just want to get hooked on some fish. The past few years for me, fishing has been abysmal in terms of fishing spots and bites.

I was out on somerville yesterday though in a boat. Launched at Nails Creek. Got 2 large mouth. One 5+ lbs over by the brushy creek inlet (atleast that cove, not get anywhere near the actual creek in my boat.

Haven't caught a bass over 2 pounds in a long while. Nice job!

Lots of rain in the forecast this upcoming weekend. Maybe that will help but from the vid that Hook Link Sinker posted, he mentioned J-Moe is struggling to catch fish as well in the creeks. That might be it for Yegua creek this season.

You could always try the intake side of the Somerville dam for black bass & crappie. I used to fish it sometimes back when I was going to A&M. Just be careful walking along those rocks. And watch for snakes!

Also, not sure if you're close to College Station, but you may want to try Lake Bryan. You can catch bass along the rock dam. There's some crappie in there too.

Yes sir I live in College Station. I actually went to Lake Bryan yesterday. Got skunked. Was fishing in the cove.

The dam looks promising. A much closer drive than newmans. Think I'd have any luck?

It's very deep water so there are fish there. It kind of sucks walking on those rocks though. And in the summer that place is crawling with snakes. Big ones!

I would try different types of crank baits and work them down along the rocks. Senkos usually work well too. Good luck!

Perfect! Just picked up a 1.5 KVD crank and a jerkbait. Slowly building my arsenal.

If you fish Lake Bryan, fish along the rock dam. Use a Rat-L-Trap lure and don't cast out to open water. Instead cast right up along shore in those rocks. That's where the bass are (up shallow in those rocks). There aren't a lot of big bass in there, but there are plenty in the two to three pound range. Again, just be careful walking along the rocks, because they are not the most stable. Hope this helps.
