If you fish Lake Bryan, fish along the rock dam. Use a Rat-L-Trap lure and don't cast out to open water. Instead cast right up along shore in those rocks. That's where the bass are (up shallow in those rocks). There aren't a lot of big bass in there, but there are plenty in the two to three pound range. Again, just be careful walking along the rocks, because they are not the most stable. Hope this helps. I might hit that up tomorrow. Been fishing everyday the past 3 days with only 3 catches lol.

It actually runs almost the entire length of the lake. There is a road that runs along the top of it.

Wondering if the rain we're getting will bring some more fish up the creeks... Honestly, it will probably take fish out of the creek, they will make their way back out to the main lake. Usually see the white bass bite taper off this time of year. I usually only fish the creek till about mid March on Somerville. Runs in other areas are still going but it seems Somerville hits first. This year with not having water till the end of January, and last year with no water till late in spawn has got things a bit messed up for sure. I'd be looking for those whites and hybrids coming up once the shad spawn starts.
If I fished for money.........I'd be broke.
In a world of compromise.....Some don't.

Are the catfish spawning at Somerville right now? Also besides fishing alongside the damn what is another alternative that’s produced some good cats?

I have been white bass fishing all over the state of Texas the last couple of weeks. The one thing that has been consistent is that as soon as the sun gets up in the sky over the trees the fishing almost completely shuts down. Same thing has been happening in the evening. I fished Newman Bottom this evening. I got there around 3:30. For the first hour I only caught 1 white bass. But then I started to see a lot of movement of white bass and some clear spawning activity. I made a dozen casts or so with a chartreuse/white clouser but couldn't get a bite. I switched over to the magical clouser and immediately started catching fish. The first 6 or 7 were small males but the fish got bigger as the sun crept toward the horizon. I ended up catching 24 more between 4:30 and 6 PM and left them biting. I did catch some females but they looked to be at least partially depleted of eggs. J-Moe, is this you? My friend took the picture at Wilderness park yesterday. He was so amazed by your (if its you) flying fishing skills...

The fish will hunker down in deeper pockets when it's a blue bird sky. Pop out and move up shallow in late afternoon or early mornings. Spawn through out the night. Now if the water is dirty, they will feed shallow all day long.

How’s creeks like nails and cedar doing recently? I’ve had a good trip early Feb but haven’t got time to come back. Is the run over or is there still fish? Thanks!
