I’ve made LOTS of mistakes. But I’ve NEVER driven my boat aground in 34 years of running a boat. I’ve NEVER injured anybody with my boat or in my boat. Dude screwed up big time. I don’t get all the hang wringing apologists with all their lecturing. Like Steze said: get over it.

It's mind blowing. And don't think that when people do stuff like this it was the first time they ran too fast at night or in fog. That's not how it works.

Fair enough, although I’m not sure why you single me out as the only one on this thread who needs to “get over it.” I’m also not trying to make it about me. In fact, this is the first time I have ever entered the fray on one of these threads. If you check my stats, you will see that in twenty years on this forum, this is only my fifty-third post (my other posts were fish pics and boat inquiries). I agree with you on one point, though: if something on this thread helps save one person, the discourse will have been worth it. Cheers 👍🏻

But you’re lecturing me to “get over it”? I see. I’m not wringing my hands. Nor am I virtue-signaling, despite how popular that is on this forum.

At least maybe the guy remembered not to leave his headlights on at the ramp?

This right here, not the first time.

We all know the types of people that do stuff like this. They drive 75 on the freeway in the pouring rain when everyone else is doing 50, do 80 towing an RV on the interstate, drive their UTV at the deer lease like they are in a NASCAR wvent..

Back in the day, I was nearly run over in my boat several times on both Monticello and Welsh. Crazy boaters running WOT running past me as I idled in fog so thick I could not see the front of the boat. Crazy people!

Fog is no joke we run in the fog sometimes but sure don't like to. I have a lot of tools at my disposal, but that's all they are is tools still not going to cover my butt if I take something out. The only thing that's close to real time is a radar even then its not perfect. That's Galveston bay and 200 ft of visibility still sucks at 8mph
