Thinking about starting a monthly open for my club on lavon. Just curious how many would be interested in fishing these? Thinking 4th weekend of the month, $100 entry $20 big bass, let me know! Thanks

Where does the 20% go? To a final tournament…..”or something else”?

The 20% goes to the club championship and the year end banquet. Anyone can join and begin qualifying for the championship. Every dollar goes back to the members.

I’d be interested for sure! I tried to test this last year, lots of interest just lost traction with trying to make it a part of the Working Man’s thing.

I'm definitely not trying to take away from the working man's at all, but it's just to hard for me to get back home and get to the lake in time. I'm sure several are like me.

And friend and I run two working man’s a week. It is tough to get off work at 5 and be at the lake taking entry fees and start at 6…fish till 9…weigh in everyone, then get home and put away the boat. Rinse repeat. Over and over. We pay back 100%…. I was asking about the 20% because after doing this for about 5 years now, I’d like to keep some money out to pay for my time. Just don’t know what is a fair amount to keep out. The guys bitch about not getting 100% payback, but if they don’t feel like fishing….they don’t have to. But they always expect the tourney holder guy to be there…..without fail. [censored] gets old.

I understand paying as a club tournament, but if you are running a workingmans, I would think you should fish for free and just pay big bass/side pot. The 100 % payback whiners can go somewhere else and play. You lose fishing time so its not really fair for the TD to pay full rate anyhow...

We are always late to get started. There is always someone pulling into the parking lot at 6….we have to determine if they are fishing, or not, paying, etc. then we have to be back before 9 to set up the tables, get the boat trailered up, set up the scale….then wait and make sure everyone is off the water or accounted for. When I first started fishing little derby’s…if I didn’t have a limit quick, I’d just load up and go home. No one expected (or wanted) me to stay. Haha. I’d salvage the rest of the evening and eat a decent dinner and be in bed on time. There is a lot of inconvenience involved with running these things. It’s fun…just not always.

I imagine you have a core group of people at the events. Let them know you feel this way and how you want to do it. They will let you know how they feel. It not like they are tipping you when they win. And if there are more than 10 boats, then its less than 10 percent any how. Big bass and side pot I consider more like gambling, I can understand someone being upset about side pot money

Just to be clear, it's the free ramp at the end of the dam in lavonia Park. Not the one inside the park. Thanks

So was this canceled? Got to the ramp this morning and no one is here. Only three trailers in the parking lot.
