The crowd that hates it is getting old. Lubys went out of business catering to the olds. The young people who are the future want it and they will get it. Nobody cares if old people watch or not. They are not a significant spend in the market place going forward. I would almost bet that over 50 percent of new boats and ffs units are sold to fat old men over 50 . I'm not fat and I'm over 50.
Grateful for every sunrise and sunset I get to witness. - Jason

I think the best rule change would be allow anyone to choose to use FFS for a 10% weight reduction. Anglers would have to choose at the end of practice. Would make for a really interesting strategic choice and BASS could do half of their live coverage on scopers and half on non-scopers. FFS is such a superior way of catching fish that it shouldn't matter - the 10% won't be enough to deter too many - but at least we'd see some coverage of guys intentionally choosing to forego it. You wasted your first post on that? No way that happens. ha! No, I just think it would be best to remove something that's not sporting from the sport, but since sponsor dollars are the main concern the next best thing is to acknowledge the non-sporting nature of it and allow competitors to choose their own destiny.

Interesting idea there. In sportscar racing call it BOP, balance of power to even the field after each event, so this is not unheard of. Maybe set a par weight for each venue right before the tournament, for those not using FFS they get a handicap. Yeah, I like the idea of the angler choosing because then we'll have strategy involved in it beyond simply restricting use of what some call technological advancement and others see (correctly) see as a non-sporting addition.

“Not sporting”
Have you ever used FFS?
I would focus your zest for “sporting” on the live bait crowd…..

I would focus your zest for “sporting” on the live bait crowd….. Not sporting doesn't mean there isn't skill. Livebait fishing also requires skill. Neither is magic. However, both are not sporting. FFS less so than live bait.

Nonsense, go spend a day doing it then come back here and post your opinion I respect your opinion, however, I could spend a 100 years doing it and I'd have the same opinion. It's nothing to do with skill or difficulty or any of that. Fishing is about the things you can see and the things you can't. It's about creativity and imagination - the best anglers historically have had both among their characteristics. FFS removes those things from such a neat sport. It's just not sporting.

So am I to assume you view sight/bed fishing to be non sporting as well? I don't love it, but it's animal vs animal so philosophically, it's probably one of the most natural examples of fish being vulnerable enough to catch.

So, is chunking a senko or fluke in 0-8 feet of water when the fish aer spawning "sporting"? It's like shooting fish in a barrel. A lot of people can only catch fish when they are on the bank in numbers.
If the only way you can catch fish is to chunk a senko or fluke at them while they trying to spawn then you should take a 2 weeks off from fishing, and then quit.

I’ll ask again….have you actually used FFS ? I have and I was shocked at how unnatural it felt. Might as well be playing video games with a fishing rod controller. Would it matter if I hadn't? I'm sure you can recognize many things that you know are wrong that other people enjoy without having done them.
