Didn’t they used to ice fish a lot in Minnesota?
Seems they spend most of the winter trolling these days.

Rick Pierce of BassCat boats posted this elsewhere:

Changes will be coming in 2025 for those Tour pros. The level of change is not yet fully known, though Bassmaster did indicate to the Elite anglers at Toledo that it was eminent. They will be addressing crappie brakes, units, heights, transducers and more in the coming season. They also gave firm guidelines on use of Crappie Brakes in 2024. The genie is out of the bottle, though they will be stuffing some aspects in a new coffin.

I think most reasonable people are on board with that, the fun part is the prediction of what that new rule looks like.
Just a guess- 58” total screen size, that gives you a 22 and 12 up front, 2(12’s) on the dash. Only one live transducer in the boat.

Be interesting to see the difference in tech rules changes next year for MLF vs BASS or if they agree to do the same. I like the Josh Jones idea of having a set # of events with FFS and the rest without, once all the schedules come out put all the lakes in a ping pong ball lottery machine like they used to do for the NBA draft to decide which lakes get to be FFS. They could even live stream the lottery.

I don’t think thatll happen, they don’t want asterisks events- that would play right into the hand of all the whiners.

Take all modern convinces, modern improvements and most electronic devices away of you are banning one, ban them all.
Ultrex type trolling motors, GPS, SI/DI/2D, shallow water anchors, lithium batteries, modern apparel, rain gear, modern fishing line and many more. Since the "OG Real Fishermen" like to say, "flasher this and flasher that" anything created for fishing after the flasher should be banned.
You get a Johnson trolling motor and a flasher. Lets see how good they really are and watch the same ones win that win today.

As with 99% of people in every facet of life, the young that do the same things as the older people do it more efficient and better. It's life. That is why your wives left you for that young sacker kid at the grocery store, LOL.

Stop the crying and being a bitter pillow biter and get out there and learn.

FYI: I started bass fishing in the mid 70's and I can use most if not all modern technology and am proficient with it.

JJ is a hypocrite for even saying that. He was nothing without it.

I have the solution!!!

Fish how YOU want to and I/WE will fish how we want to. Fixes everything - guaranteed.

You go be "sporting" how you wish and we will sport fish how we wish.

Until there are real studies done on how it may or may not be impacting the resource - just go do you.

All this crying and whimpering like a simp is just silly.

I think most reasonable people are on board with that, the fun part is the prediction of what that new rule looks like.
Just a guess- 58” total screen size, that gives you a 22 and 12 up front, 2(12’s) on the dash. Only one live transducer in the boat.

These guys could use four 9-inch screens and catch them just as well. The manufacturers want them to sell the most expensive.

Probably so- I use a 9” but I can’t catch them..lol. They’ll strike a balance between what works and what’s overkill. I don’t think they’ll use 9” cause manufacturers want to sell 12”.

I am really curious the lure manufacturer's point of view. I would think jerk baits would still sell like crazy, and there cant be a ton of money in jighead minnows (maybe im wrong). I would think everything else has to be down. My guess is they want tournaments won a wide variety of lures, which has not been the case.

I guess you didn’t watch what was going on then. Jerkbaits, jigs, wacky worms, senko, swim baits, jig head minnows and even the crazy Japanese baits were used on camera.
