Went back to Naconiche Sunday... arrive around 8:00 and start to unload... get kayak off and start hooking up battery and graph when everything gets dark and hear thunder and lightning... it was ugly. By the time I have everything hooked up I am soaked.. run to car and wait it out for half an hour of intense rain, thunder, lightning, and ice pellets. Felt bad for the three early birds that got caught out on the water. Squall line passes through and lake becomes perfect with just a gentle breeze.. normally I would save my best spots for last but I was anxious to see if the bass were still chomping in the shallows where I caught them last week... the same place I caught my personal best a couple of years ago, and where I busted off a big one last week... had changed out the line on my reel waiting to get back to that spot. Had just received an order of new Ignite swimbaits in some new colors.. No I am not sponsored, just like using new colors as I get tired of the same old beautiful colors. It didnt take long and the fish were biting... got the skunk off early with a 4 pounder, biggest of the day but I busted off another one that I know would have been over 22 inches and maybe more... I have been using 17 lb test lately as I have lightened up from 20+ .. will be going back to heavier. The fry I had seen jumping around last week were still around.. though not much activity on top like last week. Things slowed and then picked back up... lost a lot of fish today that threw my bait. Most were probably smaller fish as when I downsize bait I would immediately catch or hook a smaller fish. It’s rare for me to go to the same lake twice in row but I will probably be back there again next weekend for three peet.. pictures later as they are on my phone. Forgot to pull my scupper plugs… I prefer the willow blade owner flashy swimmers but these work too. I like this new color so much I may just save it for next OT gathering if it’s at Lake of the Pines.. where I will be going for the three peat.. the name of this color is Game Over! Prey Bait 4 inch I was fishing the inside of cut when a boat pulls through right near me… he was on other side and couldn’t see me and heard my bait splatting the water and thought bait was busting on top… I love throwing baits that make that sound. Got bit as far back in coves as you could go in several areas..

Glad it was ice pellets instead of the large hail on the I-20 corridor Tyler to Shreveport.

Looks like a successful adventure despite (because of?) the foul weather. Good luck next time too!

I’d totally bring my kayak to join. But it’s a nearly 4 hour drive for me. And I’m coming down with a flu that my wife kindly shared with me. Your trip reports are awesome though, so looking forward to the next one!

The FOMO is real, but a 3 and a half hour drive to fish for an entire day when my parents are coming in might not go over to well
