We are wanting to sell off most of our furniture. Wondering if any of you folks know someone in the business of buying furniture, which would include them picking it up at the residence without any help from me, because I can do much heavy lifting. We’ve done some fairly extensive research on the web but aren’t having much luck so far. I’m not looking to just junk it (those companies are out there) and am not quite exasperated enough to donate it.

The key here is if someone wants to buy it, they also gotta carry it out and load it. Let me know if you know someone

Around here we have a few auction houses that will do that, they run monthly live auctions at their facility and would run it thru on consignment. If you want someone to buy the whole package and haul it off you really can’t expect to get much for it- all their expenses will be factored in.

Our office just sold a bunch of office furniture. Nice stuff.

Office Manager is my home girl and she told me the price the buyer paid for it was LESS than what they charged to break it down and remove it. We basically paid them to take it.... and she shopped around.

I am sure office stuff is different than residential though.

On the horizon likely, but I was hoping just to get someone that knew someone that did this. Marketplace or any other site and having to deal with the general public is a nuisance at best.

I’m not looking to make a killing at all, it’s going to all go pretty cheap. It’s the labor and haul off part that interests me the most, I don’t want to deal with it.

Yeah, when we closed our office in Plano we paid some company to come haul everything off. Of course they also resell everything they get paid to take away. And none of it was owned by me

The standard deduction is so high now that unless you are making A LOT of donations and or have a huge mortgage (i.e. paid lots of interests, I mean LOTS) getting a benefit from donations is a tough proposition these days. Has to be some BIG donations.

In 2022 94% of filers took the standard deduction... means anything they donated did not do them any good on their taxes.

I moved down the street in November. I just took some pics and listed stuff for basically 100 bucks each. I had so much gone in 2-3 days. And a lot of times I would just give additional stuff I didn't want to mess with. Towards the end I had some stuff like tv's etc that I would post that you could have it for free but you had to take all this other stuff. If I had to do it over again I think I could have it gone in one day.

Post some pictures of what you have would be a good start.

And to seal the deal- don’t forget to add “I know what I’ve got” right after the price.
