I've bought a couple of Okuma Epixor EF20 and EF30 reels and had good luck with them. You can tell by the photos of the reels which are used and beat up and which are in like new condition.

I have bought several Shimano and ABU reels from eBay and had good luck with the purchases but all were American based sellers.
With the extra shipping costs from Japan there was not much difference in overall price for the same reels I could find for my needs in the US.

I’m a Daiwa guy and buy a lot of reels from Japan off eBay that aren’t common here. Certain Steez, Alphas Air, certain Zillions, never had an issue. Reputable Japanese sellers will have the reel on your door step in 5-6 days via FedEx.

Same here,Japan has many reels you'll never see here.I recently picked up a used(like new no wear marks at all) 18 Caldia LT 2500 XH for $85 shipping included.Helluva deal if I may say so myself.I have a fleet of Exceler's, Fuego's and BG's 2500 to 6500 so I am always on the lookout for something unavailable in the US

Have purchased reels and spools from Japan Tackle. No problems whatsoever.

Have purchased some from Japan over the years with no problems. I would just ask whether they were used in fresh or saltwater unless it makes no difference to you..

Something to be mindful of that I have ran into being a reel repair shop is parts. I have had several customers who have bought JDM reels, and while many (speaking particularly of Shimano) are very similar to it's American counterparts, often the parts are different. This causes issues when having to order parts as I have had customers where parts would be only a few dollars but the shipping and availability is a major issue because the parts would have to come from overseas and are not available in the US. Just something to think about.

I did the same thing looking for a Shimano Chronarch 150. Found a new one for $235, no tax and free shipping (they go for $299 here). I misread the ad thinking the seller was in Canada (don't drink and shop). Ended up being North-One Tackles in Japan. I used PayPal so I felt a little better. Ordered on Saturday night, got a confirmation and FedEx tracking number on Monday. Reel was delivered on Thursday... I'd do it again, saved $65 bucks and got it quicker than if I'd have bought it at Tackle Warehouse... Dan https://north-one.jp/

Was literally about to get on here and ask this. I see Shimanos from shops in Japan all the time. I’m curious if there’s a bunch of extra shipping charges involved or if it’s just $16 straight up.
