Combat fishing? Ever since the internet with fishing forums and people telling others how to get to these hidden spots, it is nothing but shoulder to shoulder fishing. When you pull two fish out of a hole, expect others to show up and start casting in it too. Happens every time. It doesn't bother me anymore. Here's what I have experienced. When they walk up and start fishing the same hole and they can't get a bite, but you continue to catch fish, they will walk away. You just got to keep your composure and enjoy the sport regardless of what others do. Is it rude to crowd an angler on a bite? I think it is. But I can only control what I do, not others. Now if the other person does hang up with me a time or two, I will say something not so nice. And every now and then there will be someone that inconsiderate cross your path. They will throw over your line and catch it, just making a mess of it all. Believe it or not, this type of people really does exist, I've seen it first-hand. Either they are super stupid, or they just don't care.

Sure is awful quiet on the forum about reports from Newman's Bottom or Irwin Bridge. Must mean there is alot of catching going on.

I was wondering why there are no reports on Yegua. I know there's fish all up in it.

Just got back from Newman Bottom. Lots of spawning activity, not much catching. Most people only had just a few. I almost always have good luck with 1/32 oz white or black/yellow marabou but not today. Swapped to a soft plastic jig 1/32 oz, slow retrieve, twitching the pole, and fishing at the bottom, found a hole in which it worked, ended up with 12 keepers.

Finding the right place and bait presentation is the number one.key to success in fishing no matter where or what you're fishing for. And the holes where they stage will change daily.
Thanks for the report.

Drove over Irwin Bridge today and the Yegua is still very muddy looking. Decided to fish one of the smaller creeks and did alright. Ended up taking home 10 white bass.

We kayaked up Birch Creek today.. 70 plus whitebass way up in the skinny water all on the fly. Even 4 big females on the way back down.. It takes a good bit of effort to get that far up but we were rewarded handsomely..

Wow, Ben! Sounds like you had an amazing day! One thing I noticed today, was almost all the fish I caught were in shallow-ish water. Tried some deeper holes, but not much luck with that. The fish were all in the shallower stretches of water.

That's been the experience for us too..
That is the fish being on the shallow sides of a deeper pool and/or on the edge of the current..

Then with a cast upstream just to line watching for that jump or stop on those very soft takes..

Who was with you Ben? Maybe you said who it was but I did not hear you say it. Seeing that Eagle was worth your trip, the whites were a bonus.
