A stinger-type hook in anything from 6, 8, or 10 is sufficient. O’shaugnessy hooks work fine, too. They’re both available at just about any big box store or online. I also use a Gamakatsu size 2 SL12S. It’s considered a big game saltwater series hook, but its size is perfect. It is a very durable hook, and if you want to use it for saltwater, no worries.

Circle jig-60-degree. Everybody's got one ... an opinion that is. The circle jig is a bit hard to find anymore, so an EAGLE CLAW 413 is pretty good.

Yepper. I’ve tied a few flies on 60 degree jig hooks. I like ‘em. They’re good - in my opinion. bolt

About 20 years ago I met Doug Blackstock a long-time fisherman of Yegua creek and he was mopping up on the springtime whitebass while most everyone else struggled to even get a bite.. His equipment was a simple closed-face spinning reel on a lite-action rod with 4 to 6 pound test and a single 1/32oz white crappie jig presented with a lifetime of experience. Fast forward a decade or two and Doug still can be found up a creek or river slaying the whitebass every spring.. The lessons learned from the Master were not lost on JMoe and I as the white crappie jig has become a mainstay in the old flybox.. but these are a much Mo-Betta fly than just a plain white jig..
