Ran up to NB in the boat today, creek was moving and muddy. Took home 6 WB and a crappie

If I fished for money.........I'd be broke.

In a world of compromise.....Some don't.

I just knew people would pull some good stringers out of Cedar creek. The lake is just a hop and skip away from the bridge.

This has nothing to do with a fishing report. I went back on this Texas Fishing forum to see how long I've been posting fishing reports and my first
post was back in 2002. Posting reports are much easier today than it was back then. Back then I was just getting started on a computer and I remember I was scared of a computer back in 1997 to the.point where I did not get on it much. One day on the computer I went into a website for the Austin American Statesman news paper out of Austin and I read a fishing report. I made a comment on that report. Someone from the newspaper asked me if I would post my own fishing reports on their website, so I did post my next fishing trip. That was my first posted fishing trip. A few years later I found this site and I started posting on here. Then I joined two other fishing websites and I posted on all three. 27 years later and I'm still.posting on this site, the other two have since then closed down.
The reports I posted on my fishing trips on Fayette Lake caught the.most slack. Readers who read them did not belive them. They couldn't rap their head around the number if black bass I was catching. I mean when you write a report about catching 30 plus black bass, people question your fishing reports. I had to take total strangers out fishing with me so they could experience it first hand. But yeah, my fishing reports were to good to be true to most readers and I was called liar for so many years. But when I had a bad report to post, I posted them as well. But yeah, I spent years trying to explain to readers that I had nothing to gain by posting false fishing reports to look good. You can either read them and possibly gain knowledge from them or skip over them and move on, but I have no intentions to sugar coat or add extra stuff on my reports to look better than what they are. And posting a picture on a website back then was not easy, it was a real pain in the rear-end to post a picture on here.

In my opinion, bad reports are more useful than good ones. Might save me a three hour round trip drive if I know conditions are bad. thumb

This is what I learn when visiting the posts here. Those posts (good/bad) save me a lot of traveling time from Houston.

You guys are spot on. That is why I posted my bad fishing report, to save anglers gas money and time. That way they could fish a lake closer by, and get out and enjoy their weekend time. I fished Fayette Lake all the time and anglers driving from Austin and Houston didn't waste two hours of driving time. And I would reveal my fishing areas as.well as the artificial baits I used. I truly was out to help others as it should be. Only times I've held back on information is when I was out pre-fishing a body of water before a tournament. But that's to be expected.

Not sure how many people know this, but I sold my Ranger bass boat last year. My health issues prevent me from fishing. My lower back is really messed up, scoliosis. I also had four sections in my neck fuse last year. And to top it off, I also have emphysema. So walking these creeks and rivers have become a struggle to deal with. That's the reason I'm not on the water very much these days. I now try to go on days when I think I can stand in one place and catch a bunch of fish. Hauling a stringer of fish from one spot to another is no longer in my play book, just can't do it. That's kind a why I do more catch and release theses days. It sucks because I can't bring home fish to clean and my freezer is empty. Normally it is full of fish. In fact, I can't ever remember it being out of fish. But we can't stay young and healthy for ever. Growing older is the pits. Ok, no more whining. I'm gonna to try to get out tomorrow, not real sure where I'll fish, but it's in my plans. I've been staying home nursing my wife, she had surgery last Friday. She seems a lot better today, so if she stays on track, I should be able to slip off and fish a few hours. Fingers crossed.

Tomorrow I get once in a year fishing day lol. What do you all say? Iโ€™m in Austin. Somerville is 1.5 hr and the steps is 1hr. Should I go NB or nails or cedar creek? Or should I just go to steps smile. Thanks.

If it's me I'm going to Cedar, Nails is backup, and Steps is backup backup. Sounds like Irwin/NB is still flooded. Good luck!

Thanks. Yeah I'm itching to catch a few. I have received several text from anglers and they have been on some awesome bites over around Sommerville. I might swing over that way tomorrow. That is if my boss gives me the okay. LOL. Really though, she's doing pretty good. I could probably go today, but we have some stuff to take care of at her parents house.

Are they biting on artificial lures (white? chartreuse?) or live bait at Nails/Cedar Creek? I'm guessing the water is still murky after the last rain, so just wondering what might be best to use.
